Product Design Engineer (Consumer Electronics)
**Summary:** Our team is seeking Product Design Engineers (Mechanical Engineers) who have the drive and commitment to deliver the highest quality next generation consumer electronics product to market and do it in a dynamic and collaborative environment. As a Product Design Engineer, you will own detailed CAD design, and mechanical integration, as well as be responsible for stewarding subsystem level designs through the ideation, design, manufacturing, and assembly process. You will provide detailed evaluation of subsystems based on agreed upon design metrics and engineering best practices. This will require working in partnership with various cross functional teams including Industrial Design, Electrical Engineers, System Engineering, Tooling, Reliability, Operations as well as a range of other external partners. You will be required to develop an understanding of our partners’ needs and provide solutions that are inclusive of them. You will be expected to bring an advanced technical background in engineering fundamentals as well experience in the product development processes and manufacturing, to aid the team in navigating the trade-offs between robust design, product cost, and time to market. Additionally, you will be expected to help actively build the ethos of the team as we break new ground in the area of high fashion smart glasses. **Required Skills:** Product Design Engineer (Consumer Electronics) Responsibilities: 1. Engage with partner and contract manufacturers to realize design goals. 2. Own and deliver complex subsystems to full system level designs and work flows. 3. Collaborate with program leads and cross functional partners to engineering solutions to customer needs. 4. Participate in design reviews to ensure hardware quality. 5. Collaborate across multiple engineering disciplines in a team environment. 6. Use 3D and 2D CAD to generate parts, assemblies, and system level designs. 7. Model, build, test, and refine prototypes to generate solutions to complex design challenges. 8. Own part and subsystem designs as they transition from prototype to mass production. 9. Represent mechanical engineering perspective in multi-disciplinary cross-functional team environments. **Minimum Qualifications:** Minimum Qualifications: 10. BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent industry experience 11. Product design experience, with a focus on enclosure, electronics integration, and mechanism design 12. Demonstrated engineering fundamentals - Mechanics of Solids, Statics, Dynamics, Materials, Thermodynamics, Fluid mechanics, Statistics 13. Experience with 3D CAD design 14. Experience with various manufacturing techniques (Injection molding, Die-cast, MIM, Die-Cutting, Machining, 3D printing, etc.) 15. Experience with Design for Manufacturability and Design for Assembly 16. Understanding of mechanical constraints systems 17. Problem solving and failure analysis experience 18. Understanding of part tolerancing, assembly stackups, and statistical evaluation methodology 19. Experience with technical communication to cross functional teams **Preferred Qualifications:** Preferred Qualifications: 20. MS or PhD in Mechanical Engineering or related field 21. Hands-on experience with standard manufacturing techniques (Injection molding, Die-cast, MIM, Die-Cutting, Machining, 3D printing, etc) 22. Experience with embedded computing and wearable devices 23.
