Our Foundations team is a cross-functional group of designers, product managers and engineers responsible for building and maintaining the design system, accessibility standards, and internal tooling for Tinder across Mobile and Web. We oversee the design language of Tinder, defining the visual, interaction, and motion foundations that ensure a cohesive and consistent user experience across our products. Additionally, we are responsible for ensuring that our platform is accessible to all users and that our internal tools empower teams to work more effectively.
We’re seeking a Design leader to oversee our design systems, accessibility standards, and internal tooling platforms. This role will lead the team responsible for defining and evolving our design systems while ensuring accessibility is prioritized across our products. You will also take ownership of the internal tooling that supports design and engineering teams, driving efficiency and innovation. The ideal candidate is passionate about design craftsmanship, accessibility, and working collaboratively to shape how millions of people discover, connect, and engage meaningfully on Tinder.
Where you’ll work:
This is a hybrid role and requires in-office collaboration two times per week. This position is located in West Hollywood, California or San Francisco Bay Area. ResponsibilitiesDesign Systems, Accessibility, and Tooling Strategy – You’ll lead strategy for our design systems, inclusive design guidelines, and internal tooling platforms, ensuring these initiatives are aligned with product goals and have a broad impact across our platforms. You will also play a key role in building and hiring a best-in-class team that can drive these initiatives forward. Stewardship of Quality and Innovator of Craft — You'll work with your team and the broader product design organization to be a steward of design craft and quality throughout our products—aiming to guide, influence, and improve future quality through systems. Team Mentorship — You'll coach the designers on your team, providing both project feedback and career guidance, and create opportunities for your team members to grow. Cross-Team Leadership – You'll work with your peers in Product Design, Product Management, Engineering, User Research, Brand Design, and more to determine a shared vision and roadmap. Building a Best-in-Class Team – You’ll play a key role in hiring and developing a world-class team of designers and contributors, ensuring the team is equipped with the talent and expertise needed to drive excellence in design systems, accessibility, and internal tooling. You’ll need:8+ years of design experience and 3+ years of experience leading successful design systems. Portfolio that demonstrates evidence of building and shipping design systems across a variety of platforms. Experience delivering large-scale projects across multiple teams. Expert storytelling skills, making complex concepts simple and easy to understand. An eye for high-quality, well-crafted visual and interaction design, and a passion for UI details. Experience promoting alignment and buy-in across product design and product engineering counterparts. Nice to have:Proven track record for leading large-scale redesigns across complex, consumer-facing products. Working knowledge and ability to write code code for mobile and web platforms, in order to enhance collaboration with engineering teams and provide a deeper understanding of design system implementation.
