Product Design Technician - Level III

**DESCRIPTION**
Key Responsibilities:
+ **Creates complex models and drawings** and performs checking for drawings and models.
+ Ability to perform all of the key responsibilities of Product Design Technician Level II.
+ Ensures model and drawing quality.
+ Creates and maintains product specifications utilizing Geometric Dimension and Tolerancing.
+ Utilizes Computer Aided Design (CAD) data management tools for configuration control and to maintain security.
+ Ensures application of company, industry, national, and international standards.
+ Processes internal engineering work requests.
+ Engages with required functional areas as needed.
+ Participates in the maintenance of standards and practices which ensure quality.
+ Mentors and trains less experienced Product Designers.
+ Checks models and drawings prior to release.
+ Creates assemblies to ensure fit to mating parts.
+ Works with engineering to generate concept models.
+ Participates in and/or leads Drawing Quality Reviews.
**RESPONSIBILITIES**
**Competencies:**
+ **Mechanical Design Modeling and Analysis** : Creates CAD models in accordance with Cummins' standards to represent architectural or product level system design concepts, enabling various system-level computer analyses.
+ **Mechanical Design of Mechanical Systems** : Applies an in-depth understanding of mechanical systems to create innovative and sound design concepts meeting Cummins and customer expectations.
+ **Mechanical Design Specification** : Creates complete specifications in the form of solid models, configured engineering bill of materials, and detailed drawings.
+ **Product Configuration and Change Management** : Establishes and maintains the integrity of product artifact baselines, releases, tracks, controls, and communicates changes from concept to obsolescence.
+ **Communicates effectively** : Develops and delivers multi-mode communications that convey a clear understanding of the unique needs of different audiences.
+ **Decision quality** : Makes good and timely decisions that keep the organization moving forward.

**Qualifications:**
+ High school diploma, certificate of completion of secondary education, or equivalent experience in an appropriate STEM field is required.
+ Regionally applicable certification or two-year Associates Degree from an accredited college or university in a relevant field of study may be required.
+ This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
**QUALIFICATIONS**
**Skills and Experience:**
+ **1-3 years of Automotive experience** , preferably in the on-highway, off-highway, or Powertrain industry.
+ Strong in Engineering fundamentals and excellent knowledge of electrical components.
+ Hands-on experience in tools such as Creo wiring harness 3D modeling.
+ Knowledge of Creo Schematics and PLM tools is an added advantage.
+ Experience in the design and development of sheet metal brackets is an added advantage.
+ Requires significant relevant work experience or specialized skills obtained through education, training, or on-the-job experience.
