Product Development Engineer - Python Developer

In this position...  

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Python Developer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Python programming, a proven ability to develop robust and efficient applications, and experience working with APIs. This role will involve creating custom tools and scripts to streamline workflows within our visualization pipeline, enhance game engine development, and automating the optimization of CAD models for improved performance and rendering.

Minimum Requirements:

Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. Experience: 3+ years of professional experience in Python programming. Experience with VRED and its API is highly desirable. Experience with at least one major game engine (Unreal Engine, Unity) is a plus. Familiarity with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor) is beneficial. Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in Python programming, including object-oriented programming principles Experience working with APIs and integrating with external systems Experience with version control systems (Git) Understanding of 3D graphics concepts and rendering pipelines Experience with optimization techniques for 3D models Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills Strong communication and collaboration skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines A proactive and results-oriented attitude

Preferred Requirements:

Experience with cloud computing platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) Experience with other scripting languages relevant to game development or CAD Contributions to open-source projects

What you'll do...

VRED API Development: Design, develop, and maintain custom tools and plugins using the VRED API to automate tasks, extend functionality, and improve the overall user experience within the VRED environment. This includes creating tools for asset management, scene setup, rendering optimization, and data analysis. Game Engine Scripting: Develop scripts and tools using Python (or other relevant scripting languages depending on the engine used, e.g., Unreal Engine's Blueprint or Python, Unity's C# or Bolt) to automate tasks, create custom game mechanics, and integrate VRED assets into game engines. CAD Optimization: Develop Python scripts and tools to optimize CAD models for rendering and simulation. This might involve tasks such as geometry simplification, mesh optimization, and data conversion for use in VRED or game engines. Testing and Debugging: Thoroughly test and debug all developed code to ensure functionality, stability, and performance. Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with other engineers, designers, and artists to understand requirements, integrate tools, and resolve technical challenges. Documentation: Maintain clear and concise documentation for all developed tools and scripts. Research and Development: Explore and evaluate new technologies and approaches to improve our visualization and optimization workflows.
