POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Product Lab Intern will have the opportunity to learn about new and innovative cementitious materials, materials analysis, and cement chemistry.

Product Lab Intern will assist with laboratory efforts to prepare and analyze cement-based formulations. The role will include performing ASTM standards as related to cement, mortar, and concrete materials. This individual will also have the opportunity to learn more about the fundamentals of materials by using characterization techniques such as XRD/XRF/SEM/Calorimetry, etc.

This position will be part of the Product Team within the R&D department.

This is an onsite position based at our San Jose office.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist with daily preparation and analysis of cement-based materials Support the operation of laboratory testing and analytical equipment Maintain and update Inventory of consumables and chemicals in the laboratory Consolidate and make records/presentations of the results Conduct independent research based on literature and assistance from staff Conduct safety inspections Comply with all safety/lean practices within the lab

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

3+ years of study in Materials Science, Chemistry, Engineering or a related field by the start of the internship Strong STEM educational background Hands-on experience with chemicals/safe chemical handling Interest in material science and analytical chemistry Willingness to work in a team Eagerness to learn A “can-do” attitude

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience with preparation and testing of cement-based materials Familiarity with analytical techniques including: XRD, XRF, PSA, SEM, BET, etc.

COMPENSATION:

The hourly range for this internship is $25.00 - $30.00.
