Product Manager shares the responsibly as per assigned portioned territory of supervising and working with 200+ Operators providing 1,000 + tours in 20+ ports covering 15+ countries. From Concept to delivery, the Product Manager is responsible for the procurement, initial negotiation, and quality while maintaining a balanced offering of tours per port that will grow revenues and guest satisfaction.
This role will also oversee the product development for CCL and Sister Brands for the Caribbean ports of call. This role will typically be challenged with changing priorities, multi-tasking and continuous deadlines, sometimes critical in nature.
Essential Functions:
Product Management & Development: Improving current product and introducing new product (Port Improvement) in the assigned ports. Visit all ports once per year and high density critical ports, two or three times in per year. As part of the port improvement, review and/or renegotiate contracts. Develop and discuss all “New” shore excursion product for the ports of call, ensuring all offerings are fully validated with the required documentation (certificate of insurance, shore excursion description, pricing, TOG insertion, selection of digital photos, allocations, all pertinent safety certificates); and a full site inspection. Follow-up on all new offerings as directed by leadership team. Also initiate and encourage diversification of product offerings in the port/destination. Review and negotiate tours for ABG based on their needs and source new tours for their demographics. Be the main point of contact for tour operators with regards to the shore excursion program, to include but not limited to: The quality of shore excursion provided by a tour operator and its delivery to the guest; the safety factors pertaining to each shore excursion; the operational/logistic set-up for each tour provided. Add new tours and delete old tours as needed, and ensure that all pertaining procedures connected with such updates are followed and all necessary personnel are advised. Eg; contracts; port covers, admin tool needs, tour reports etc. Support the day to day operation of the apportioned existing 1000 +excursions provided by 200+ partners in 20+ ports of call covering 30+ countries. Assuring the delivery and quality of the contracted services with every call. A Product Manager conducts margin analysis, industry/market research, and performance measurement to determine product demand, viability, and profitability of tours Quality: Analyze the performance of all shore excursion offerings for quality, guest satisfaction and overall impact on the program. Analyze ship voyage reports, online guest reviews, guest communication, on a weekly basis. Follow up with tour operators when corrective action is required and track results. Financial Analysis: Determine optimal selling prices and ensure cost containment to meet budgeted revenue targets by developing a year over year analysis containing pricing, tour mix, inventory, and historical sales. Advanced spreadsheet and numerical analysis skills: margin and cost analysis. Monitor the achievement of sales objectives by assessing the response to and suitability of current material and promotions in order to achieve revenue objectives. Provide direction and input to the Analyst to gather data needed to develop revenue action plans (packaging, promotions, discounts etc. Maintains product mix and selling price by keeping current with supply and demand, changing trends, economic indicators, and competitors. Establishes and adjusts selling prices by monitoring costs, competition, and negotiation. Investigate, plan and deploy new cost savings ideas to meet revenue goals. Work closely, and consult with leadership team on all financial analysis aspects. Marketing: Supervise all new and existing online tours that all information is current and correct at all times. Work closely with Marketing in regards to the checking and confirming of all new Travel Guide/ Port Information that will be displayed on www.carnival.com. Also, liaising closely with Itinerary Planning and Port Operations in regards to securing the best itinerary and times in port that is needed. Use expert knowledge of global tour program to guide the Itinerary Planning in their itinerary development process in order to maximize revenue in port. Provide product and port information to Marketing and Public Relations for promotion of shore excursions in the market place such as Social media and Direct mail. Operations: Collaborate with Operations team on guest accidents on tour, guest service issues, last-minute program revision (political issues, strikes). Assure constant communication between shipboard teams and Tour Operators. Leadership: Provide feedback, support and coaching by educating onboard team on emerging products, profitability, strategies, competitive strategies, proper use and level of customer support, management of expenses and business/financial issues. Travel: Attend all pertaining Conferences and Trade Shows to designated port areas. Attend all meetings with Port Officials and Local Governments as required. Attend Site inspections of all new ports and arrange site inspections, flights and visas etc Travelling to port, or ship, as and when neededQualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Business , international business required 5 years of dynamic business experience in the travel and service industry with great emphasis on product quality.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Strong Negotiation Skills, Strong business ethics, strong problem solving ability, Strong multi-tasking capability in complex situations. Strong Computer skills especial in Micro Soft Office with emphasis on excel Ship board experience preferred Travel industry certificationsPhysical Demands: Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time. Requires regular movement throughout CCL facilities. May need to stand for long periods of time.
Travel: Less than 25% ship and shore-based travel
Work Conditions: Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.
This position is classified as “in-office.” As an in-office role, it requires employees to work from a designated Carnival office in South Florida Tuesday through Thursday each week. Employees may work from their homes on Mondays and Fridays. Candidates must be located in (or willing to relocate to) the Miami/Ft. Lauderdale area.
