**Your role at Clorox:**
As a Research & Development (R&D) Product Developer II for Burt’s Bees, you will be part of a team responsible for the technical formula development and scale-up of innovative Burt’s Bees products. You will collaborate with R&D counterparts, cross-functional colleagues, and external partners to ideate and develop products and to bring these ideas to life. You will have a variety of assignments within the organization across new product innovation, formulation, claims development, and sustainability; Burt's Bees is an iconic and innovative brand positioned for growth.
**In this role, you will:**
+ Develop personal care products from concept through launch, working independently and cross-functionally to fulfill project requirements through technical leadership.
+ Proficiently identify and apply evolving technologies from internal and external sources to deliver against consumer and customer needs, create foundational understanding, and drive key business initiatives.
+ Work from product concept or benchmark to formulate new products, delivering functionality and aesthetic delight on time and at cost, driven by consumer insights.
+ Design and execute technical testing to assess and specify product performance and aesthetics, including method development and validation.
+ Collaborate in close partnership with R&D peers - Product Design, Packaging Development, Process, Regulatory, and Analytical - to deliver comprehensive and delightful product solutions.
+ Analyze and interpret data to drive technical understanding with stakeholders, meet project objectives, and manage and elevate risk appropriately.
+ Create and execute robust plans for scaling up new and improved products and processes, acting in a Process Development capacity as needed.
+ Work closely with suppliers, R&D and Supply Chain counterparts, and manufacturing partners to successfully trial and scale up new products, define production requirements, and influence future capabilities for growth.
+ Travel to suppliers, trade shows, and manufacturing facilities to enable new product launches; around 20% travel expected in the role.
**What we look for:**
+ Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Biology, master’s degree in Cosmetic Science, or equivalent number of years of relevant beauty or personal care industry experience.
+ Minimum 3 years’ experience in Product and/or Process Development in personal care consumer products, including experience in beauty claims substantiation and understanding of relevant testing needed to support.
+ Direct experience in formulation development and scale-up on related technologies across Lip, Facial Skin Care, and/or Body Care categories.
+ Passion for product trends and the ability to work cross functionally to influence product concept development and innovation.
+ Ability to technically address challenges related to formula stability, viscosity, pH, aesthetics, and package compatibility with minimal oversight.
+ Strong technical curiosity, critical thinking, and creative problem-solving skills with a record of implemented innovative technical solutions.
+ Ability to independently lead projects and collaborate cross-functionally to successfully drive projects at various stages in the development cycle.
+ Knowledge of Design of Experiments (DoE) and statistical applications (JMP, etc.), preferred.
**Workplace type:**
Hybrid: This role will work onsite 3 days a week in the Durham, NC office and 2 days remotely.

Based on the breadth of our ranges, most new hires will start at Clorox in the first half of the applicable range. Your starting pay will depend on job-related factors, including relevant skills, knowledge, experience and location. The applicable salary range for every role in the U.S. is based on your work location and is aligned to one of three zones according to the cost of labor in your area.
–Zone A: $86,600 - $161,900
–Zone B: $79,400 - $148,400
–Zone C: $72,100 - $134,900

This job is also eligible for participation in Clorox’s incentive plans, subject to the terms of the applicable plan documents and policies.
