We, at Leggett & Platt Inc., are searching for a Product Development Technician within our product development team to help support our bedding business. As a Product Development Technician you will have the opportunity to support the product development team in new product development. Your contributions will have a direct impact on the business by building and assembling prototype products for customer samples and product performance testing. The team you will be working with is collaborative and innovative, and values challenging work and diversity of thought.
So, what will you be doing as a Product Development Technician?
· Build and assemble prototype products for customer samples and product performance testing.
· Verify all samples have been checked to ensure quality.
· Keep work area clean, safe, and organized.
· Store raw materials in proper floor or rack locations.
· Assist the product development expeditor as needed with loading, unloading, and storage of product.
· Build Shipping containers to send customers.
· Follow all written procedures, work instructions (verbal or written) by not only supervisor but any other member of management.
· Conform and adapt to new tasks as they arise in a R&D prototype shop.
· Possibility of travel depending on the nature/outcome of certain projects.
· Perform other duties as requested or as deemed appropriate.
To be successful in this role, you’ll need:
· Able to accurately read a tape measure, calipers, micrometer, etc.
· Able to follow verbal and written instructions.
· Able to work well with others.
· Able to learn and fill out all necessary paperwork accurately including all necessary data collection procedures on a PC.
· Able to operate basic hand power tools (drills, saws, radial arm saw, ban saw, table saw, etc).
· Ability to read prints and drawings
· Excellent Communication skills (verbal & written).
· Have a cooperative attitude, necessary to work effectively with others.
· Must be detail oriented.
· Must be a self-starter and be able to work effectively and efficiently under minimal supervision.
· Excellent mechanical skills including welding and machining beneficial.
· Commitment to perform all duties as requested, deemed appropriate, and new duties as they arise in a prototype research and development facility.
· Must have a valid MO class F driver’s license to operate a company vehicle as necessary.
Things we consider a plus:
· Can operate a pallet jack, fork truck a plus.
