Product Director, Hardware

Irvine, California, USA (Hybrid)

Position Summary

Thales is seeking a Product Director in Irvine, CA. The Product Director, Hardware, will be responsible to define, design, develop, integrate competitive and profitable products under the umbrella of a solution/platform to the airline customers with attractive and competitive value proposition by anticipating market & competition trends and by capitalizing assets. In this role, you will be in charge of the high complexity development, responsible for a line of products, its consistency from inception/innovation to obsolescence, and validating each major step of the Product Life Cycle in a homogenous and structured way. You will also be responsible for all budget associated with the product effort (CFR&D, SFR&D, CAPEX, OPEX), schedule, risks and opportunities.

Key Areas of Responsibility

Works with the Solution Product Manager and provides input for the Solution Strategy, define a consistent and coherent set of strategic orientations and priorities. Prepares inputs MYB (Multi-Year Budget), working closely with Marketing and Strategy for the assigned product/s

For the assigned product is in charge of the product line from Definition, execution, deployment all the way to sustaining activities.

Leads the Product Level Project Team supported by the Project Engineer for all engineering aspects and supported by Product Owner for all technical aspects under the Solution IPT.

Coordinates the development and validates the sales kit, supporting the marketing, business development and commercial teams for the product promotion and marketing activities

On request from the Customer Success organization, represents the business line in front of customers in bid and program reviews as needed

Manages relationship from product perspective with key suppliers and partners with procurement team

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with 9+ years’ experience or Master’s degree in field with 7+ years’ experience preferably in Avionics with knowledge of  IFE  market customers, competition

5+ years of  complex project management experience with development of complex systems in aerospace  sector and /or experience in driving a product roadmap, leveraging data and analytics to ensure sophisticated customer engagement

Track record in controlling the life cycle of the products by optimizing the development of the economic cycles to obtain growth and profitability at the level of the portfolio of the BL (R&D investments, commercial investments, industrial...)

Experience in methodology of characterization of markets preferably in IFE /technology sector

Experience developing value-based pricing models, products and business models

Familiarity with SAP, Primavera, Microsoft Project tools

Special Position Requirements

Travel: Domestic and International Travel – 25%

Schedule: This role will work under the Thales IFE 9/80 schedule A or B. with flexibility to manage global meetings

Pay Transparency

The anticipated TTC range for this role is $168,864.07 - $333,319.85 USD Annual. The Company reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s status protected by local, state, or federal law.
