This position creates 3D models, approval drawings and all documents required for sourcing and manufacturing of products in the contract furniture industry. The primary function is to develop furniture designs for functional use and in-house production capabilities. Also, the Engineer is to identify work to be completed and generate the proper procedures to complete tasks as assigned. The Engineer must ensure that the company’s goals for quality, cost and timeliness are met by utilizing technical, interpersonal, and business skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Candidates in this position will be required to use the following software – Autodesk Inventor, Autodesk Vault, Woodworking for Inventor, Excel, Infor Visual (ERP system)
Develop 3D models and approval drawings using the acknowledgement, quote drawings engineering and manufacturing standards
Drawing revisions and support to help assist in drawing approval process
Finalize 3D models with core materials, surfaces, edges, oversizing, routings, part numbers, part descriptions and machining requirements (used by CNC dept. to develop programs)
Create cut sheets, cultists, and material summary list from 3D models
Create vendor drawings for all custom parts required (i.e., glass, metal, stone, Corian)
Create work order with all material requirements
Review all documents create using review checklists
Must enter required information and maintain order status in our timeline document (excel)
Promote teamwork and collaboration throughout the organization including Estimating, Project Management, Purchasing, and Production
Coordinate special projects as required
Must participate in corrective action activities with suppliers and manufacturing including appropriate documentation and review
Assist Production and Purchasing in identifying and coordinating unique job requirements
Review jobs to suggest needed improvements to systems or processes
Participate in continuous improvement, Lean and other cost savings or value-added activities as required
Position Requirements:
Bachelors (four-year) degree in Engineering
Previous Engineering experience is required with preference given to those with contract furniture experience.
A starting compensation range for this role is $70,000 annually. Relevant salary considerations will include candidate qualifications and experience, other business/organizational needs and market factors . You may also be eligible to receive a geographic premium.
