Product Engineer

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Product Engineer – Windows responsibilities include supporting the design and manufacturing of new products, as well as improvement to existing offerings, of our line of windows. Also work closely with packaging design and R&D to identify solutions and cost-saving opportunities.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Support Product Design, Development and Validation Testing of new products or current product extensions and improvements.

Manage multiple projects using Stage-Gate product development process to deliver projects on Time and on Budget.

Translate user needs into technical requirements and conduct feasibility studies for innovative solutions.

Create detailed CAD designs and 3D models for product design and development.

Perform engineering calculations and analyses such as tolerance and stackup analysis, prepare FMEAs and technical specification documentation.

Build and refine prototypes and conduct bench-top experiments to validate design concepts.

Plan and execute test methodologies, analyze results, and generate comprehensive reports to inform decision-making.

Work closely with sourcing for purchased parts and with manufacturing engineering to ensure designs are manufacturable.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

4-year engineering degree in Mechanical, Industrial Engineering or Process Engineering.

3-5 years of experience working on product development projects

Knowledge of design for manufacturing and assembly (DFMA) in a lean environment. This includes the utilization of design reviews and signoffs to gain organizational buy-in.

Familiarity with structured product development frameworks, including iterative and stage-gate methodologies.

Knowledge of various manufacturing processes such as molding, extrusion, and metal forming, light assembly, glass production, and their impact on design and production.

Ability to identify and implement cost savings opportunities.

Self-starter acts with minimal direction.

Strong organizational skills.

Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Proven ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, demonstrating accountability, effective communication, and ownership of project outcomes.

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

Glass Building Product experience in product development.

Project Management experience recommended.

AutoCAD and SolidWorks 3D Modeling experience preferred.

Work Environment

The atmosphere is that of a manufacturing plant and office space. The position will primarily work where moving machinery produces noise. Employees must wear Personal Protective Equipment that is issued for that location. Temperature can range from extreme cold to extreme heat. Frequent use of company communication devices is required such as a computer, phone, and other office electronics. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $41.00 - $48.00
