**DESCRIPTION**
**Key Responsibilities:**
+ **Engineering Systems and Processes** : Possess in-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with engineering systems and processes, including ESW, Source Approval, IMS, and GIEA systems.
+ **Release Processing and VPCR Activities** : Demonstrate proficiency in release processing and VPCR activities.
+ **HHP Engine Systems** : Strong understanding of HHP engine systems, components, engine assembly, and testing processes, with expertise in 7-step problem-solving methodologies.
+ **Six Sigma Processes** : Familiarity with Six Sigma processes and projects; certification in Six Sigma is an added advantage.
+ **Product Engineering and Support** : Relevant work experience in product engineering and hands-on involvement in current product support.
+ **Problem Investigation and Resolution** : Investigate product problems, understand causal mechanisms, recommend appropriate action, own problem resolution, and document results with guidance from more experienced team members.
+ **Business Processes** : Work in business processes of Product Preceding Technology (PPT), Value Package Introduction (VPI), or Current Product Support (CPS) and execute technical processes such as Engineering Standard Work (ESW), iDFMEA, and Failure Incident Review Group (FIRG).
+ **Stakeholder Input** : Obtain input from stakeholders such as technical managers, project leaders, other product and manufacturing engineers, and supplier partners to deliver information and recommendations that lead to quality product decisions.
+ **Project Decision Making** : Apply academic knowledge and existing experience to take action and make decisions that progress projects forward without sacrificing project quality expectations.
+ **Independent Execution** : Provide independent execution of established work processes and systems, while still developing technology or product knowledge; engage with the improvement of systems and processes.
+ **Team Contribution** : Contribute effectively toward team goals, exhibit influence within a work group, and continue to develop proficiency in the competency areas critical to success in the role.
**RESPONSIBILITIES**

+ **Mechanical Design of Mechanical Systems** : Acquire and apply an in-depth understanding of mechanical systems to create innovative and sound design concepts.
+ **Mechanical Design Specification** : Create complete specifications in the form of solid models, configured engineering bill of materials, and detailed drawings.
+ **Product Configuration and Change Management** : Establish a baseline of identified product artifacts to be placed under configuration management.
+ **Product Development Execution, Monitoring, and Control** : Plan, schedule, coordinate, and execute activities involved in developing a product.
+ **Product Failure Mode Avoidance** : Mitigate potential product failure modes to improve the reliability of Cummins’ products.
+ **Product Function Modeling, Simulation, and Analysis** : Impact product design decisions through computational tools and methods.
+ **Product Interface Management and Integration** : Identify and analyze interfaces and interactions across system boundaries.
+ **Product Problem Solving** : Solve product problems using a process that protects the customer.
+ **Product Verification and Validation Management** : Develop product systems validation plans to identify failure modes and manage product risk.
+ **System Requirements Engineering** : Translate stakeholder needs into verifiable requirements and track the status of requirements throughout the system lifecycle.
+ **Systems Thinking** : Define the system of interest and analyze linkages and interactions between elements.
+ **Technical Documentation** : Document information based on knowledge gained as part of technical function activities.

**Education, Licenses, Certifications:**
+ **Degree Requirement** : College, university, or equivalent Bachelor's degree in Engineering or appropriate STEM field is required.
+ **Post-Graduate Degree** : Post-graduate (Master's) degree relevant to this discipline area may be required for select roles.
+ **Licensing** : This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
**QUALIFICATIONS**
**Experience:**
+ 4 plus years' experience in diesel engine design & development using Pro E, CAD software
+ Product Engineering experience
+ Engine testing & validation
+ Problem Solving skills
