Job Overview

TE Connectivity’s Product Engineering Teams optimize existing products from information or input provided by marketing, customers, Operation Teams, Development Engineers or other employees. They maintain existing products, processes, and specifications including modifications for new applications consistent with manufacturing techniques and economies. They also initiate and implement programs to continuously improve quality, and cost, while meeting customer requirements and may support and implement product extensions to existing platform products to meet specific customer requirements. They are the key experts in the products they are responsible for at TE.

The Product engineer II will report to the Supervisor, Product Design Engineering in Energy’s Bangalore Engineering Design Center team. The role will be responsible for Computer Aided design of products and sustaining engineering support for TE Energy products for LV, MV & HV applications and engineering support for existing products to sustain in the competitive market. The role will support one of TE Energy’s product lines including Solar Harness, Insulation & Protection, Connectors & fittings for LV, MV & HV applications.

Responsibilities:

•    Assist in designing products for LV, MV & HV applications using metal & polymer materials
•    3D CAD design using Creo & 2D drawings
•    Product Data management, Engineering change activities etc. using PDMLink, SAP etc.
•    Assess drawings & calculate the tolerance based on Stack-up analysis, process-based tolerance & referring to standards.
•    Designing molds for prototypes & design of jigs & fixtures for product testing.
•    Be a strong technical partner and provide support to Product management teams. 
•    Assist Global Engineering teams with New Product Developments across a range of projects & executing on cost optimization/reduction (VA/VE) opportunities for the business.
•    Reverse Engineering of competitor products.
•    Recording results of design reviews, design decision meetings and report writing.
 

Desired Candidate Profile:

•    Mechanical Engineering Degree (OR Industrial Production) or higher.
•    Organized, methodical and self-motivated individual with the ability to work independently on own initiative and meet own commitments is essential.
•    3D & 2D CAD design. Experience with Creo 3D design essential
•    Knowledge in GD&T and tolerance stack-up analysis
•    Experience in PDMLink and SAP product data management environment
•    2-5 years mechanical engineering related experience for Energy market applications, plastic/rubber processing, metal processing preferred.
•    Solid knowledge of Metal Casting Process, Metal Fabrication Processes, Plastic/rubber components, e.g. thermoset molding or rubber molding
•    Proven ability to execute on engineering deliverables 
•    Strong customer service mindset, delivering quality products and services on time 
•    Fluent communication skills, facilitating collaboration with own team, customers, internal business leaders and technology leaders to create value.
•    Individual, have strong planning skills and be able to deal with multiple competing priorities.
