Position Summary:
The Product Engineer focuses on innovation, development and maintenance of product designs. Major new developments are a key responsibility of this position. A key job performance metric is revenue growth through new product sales. The product development engineer will shepherd new products from ideation through successful launch to the market place and will have full design responsibility throughout their life cycle. The position also has responsibility for maintenance of existing designs, including value engineering and design updates and corrections.
Principle Duties (includes, but is not limited to):
Product and process development related to the manufacture of fluoropolymer lined fluid handling components. Hands on development work to include computer-aided design, prototyping, testing and optimization.Act as technical lead on assigned new product development projects, which entails project management and reporting, in a cross functional team environment.Understand industry and customer specifications and apply them in the product development process.Interface with customers and suppliers to understand needs, develop applications, and discover opportunities.Interface with existing and new vendors to specify optimized materials required in new and existing products.Interface with Product, Process and Operational Excellence Engineers to develop innovative solutions to product design related problems.Utilize collaborative design processes, including, but not limited to DFMEA, 3P and kaizen to enhance innovation and prevent problems.Ensure adherence to Fluid handling Group NPD process, Resistoflex Engineering Change Control Procedure, and all ISO 9001 procedures as applicable.Essential Qualifications / Experience:
B.S in Engineering or related degree.Exceptional verbal and written communication skills used to communicate with vendors/customers, and internal reporting.Product design and development expertise.Strong project management skills.Team player with strong individual initiative and decision making ability.Manufacturing process development.Preferred Qualifications/Experience
Minimum 5-7 years in manufacturing and product development experience.Product design and development expertise.Strong project management skills.Working familiarity with Six Sigma tools, experimental design.Plastics processing expertise, particularly with fluoropolymers.Experience with machining, welding and metal forming.This description has been designed to indicate the general nature and level of work being performed by employees within this classification.
