Product Engineer /Mechanical Engineering

We are seeking an experienced **Product Engineer** to join our team. The role involves both semi-skilled and skilled duties, with primary responsibility for creating product designs and developing sample products based on pre-qualified specifications Management, Sales, or Marketing teams. The Engineer will work under the direct management of the General Manager or Engineering Manager and will use technical descriptions, sketches, and verbal direction to develop or design actual or conceptual products.
This position requires knowledge of material properties, industrial processes, and manufacturing procedures to complete project-specific tasks. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in **Mechanical Engineering** with a solid understanding of **electrical systems** (or vice versa). Experience in the design and manufacture of **fluid pump systems** is a plus.
**Key Responsibilities:**
+ Design system layouts and packaging, focusing on **Design for Manufacturing (DFM)** and cost efficiency, and find solutions to design issues impacting product quality.
+ Generate complex **drawings** and **3D models** of products per specifications.
+ Review and interpret engineering plans and diagrams to ensure proper component orientation and material compatibility.
+ Provide input on design compatibility and offer solutions to internal teams for manufacturing or construction processes.
+ Create detailed designs for **pressure vessels** , **structural skids** , and **piping layouts** .
+ Conduct research on product design, capabilities, and compatibility.
+ Identify design flaws and recommend workable solutions.
+ Draw rough sketches or produce finished drawings to illustrate specified materials and component assembly.
+ Apply industry standards (ASME, ANSI, ISO, CSA) in product design and ensure compliance.
+ Maintain the **Master Written Specification File** for emergency shower and eyewash components.
+ Support third-party product and process testing and approval as needed.
+ Perform calculations and analyze prototypes and design concepts.
+ Collaborate with **Product Management** , **Customer Service** , and **Engineering** teams to translate product requirements into technical specifications.
+ Prepare **BOMs** (Bills of Material), specifications, and **change notices (ECNs)** .
+ Collaborate with the New Product Development Team to ensure reliability, manufacturability, and product quality.
+ Participate in cross-functional product teams and support first-article inspections as required.
**Qualifications:**
+ 3-5+ years of related design/drafting experience.
+ Bachelor’s degree in **Mechanical Engineering** or related discipline.
+ Experience in industrial **electrical design** , with knowledge of **NEC** , **CEC** , and European electrical standards.
+ Knowledge of ratings and specifications for valves, fittings, tubing, and equipment.
+ Familiarity with **ASME Code** , **Piping Codes B31.1 &** **B31.3** , ANSI, **CSA** , and **ISO** standards.
+ Proficiency in **AutoCAD** , **Autodesk Inventor** , **Pro-Engineer** , **P&ID** , and **Microsoft Office** software.
+ Experience with **Pressure Vessel** and **Structural Skid** design and application.
+ Strong self-starter with the ability to multitask and work effectively with minimal supervision.
+ Knowledge of **fluid dynamics** , especially in skidded pump packages, is preferred.
+ Experience with **Boiler Pressure Vessel codes** and **Process Piping codes** is required.
**Pay Details:** $45.00 per hour
