International Motor’s System Engineering team is responsible for developing and defining our vehicle systems functionality and interfacing behavior across the vehicle. Our concepts and requirements are guided by customer, legal, technical standards, or internal specifications for mechanical, electrical, and software elements of defined systems. This position is part of the Autonomous Systems (ATS) team establishing and developing vehicle integration solutions specific to autonomous electric and electronics systems. It represents the product owner function within the agile SAFe agile framework and is a key liaison with the global ATS team, component groups, software engineering teams and validation group during product lifecycle. As part of TRATON’s Global R&D team you will lead collaboration with development teams across our global sites and ensure proper integration of our team members and product development. Responsibilities • Lead a team of vehicle/software engineers to deliver functional requirements definition and established operating expectations. • Develop vehicle systems functionality and interfaces, focusing on the integration of autonomous and base vehicle systems. o Brake Systems o Powertrain Systems o Steering Systems o Vehicle Mode Management, Health Monitoring, Fault Management • Gather and clarify product information including use cases, product requirements, voice of customer, and platform demands. • Define architecture demands, principles, and requirements to support desired system functionality. • Analyze dependencies and interactions in complex automotive and autonomous vehicle systems within system-of-system contexts as well as with environment. • Contribute to development of timing and resource plans to execute projects. • Execute system development processes including the decomposition of vehicle/product requirements to identify form and function to incorporate requirements. • Lead / participate in issue resolution activities during development, validation, and vehicle launch. • Collaborate with program team to support program goals and develop standard processes and approaches to ensure deliverables are on-time. • Utilization of systems development tools and processes. • Work in a team and contribute to the continuous improvement activities through participation in Lean projects, Navistar’s design standards, process improvements etc. • Solve problems and implement solutions to establish/maintain/improve vehicle functionality. • Collaborate with functional safety and cybersecurity engineers to integrate safety and security into system design. • support vehicle topology / system architecture activities. • Serve as technical advisor and leader to the organization and technical mentor to less experienced engineers. • Provide a can-do mentality combined with an analytical mindset and a methodical way of working. Minimum Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science At least 12 years of experience in product design/development or new technologies and/or computer science experience At least 2 years of experience leading new technologies or specialized technologies OR Master’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science At least 8 years of experience in product design/development or new technologies and/or computer science experience At least 2 years of experience leading new technologies or specialized technologies OR PhD in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science At least 5 years of experience in product design/development or new technologies or specialized technologies and/or computer science experience At least 2 years of experience leading new technologies or specialized technologies Additional Requirements Qualified candidates, excluding current International Motors employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States.
