The Product Engineering Manager is responsible for managing the SCC portfolio of hot gas path products, new product development, and relevant manufacturing processes. Roles and Responsibilities
Management of a team of Product Engineers responsible for the management of the SCC portfolio of hot gas path products, new product development, and relevant manufacturing processes..The product engineering team is responsible for statistically and comprehensively analyzing product defects and leading the problem solving to reduce defects and improve product yield.Work cross functionally to develop and implement countermeasures/trials to improve yield and control plans to sustain.Provide Engineering instruction updates to the SCC team on existing and new products.Manage multiple product specification reviews and work cross-departmentally on ensuring a quality performance that meets requirements.Collaborate with cross functional teams and lead team members in projects that positively impact plant initiatives to improve Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost.Manage the creation, revisions, and maintenance of product BOM's.Provide technical inputs to Design Engineering on producibility of designs and advise for potential design alternatives or criteria alleviations to designs with producibility issues.Interprets simple internal and external business challenges and recommends best practices to improve SCC products and processes. Stays informed of industry trends that may inform work.Uses high level of judgment and experience to make decisions and handle complex tasks or problems in areas of operations, product management, manufacturing, and engineering.Demonstrated capability to assess the quality of information available and ask pertinent questions to stakeholders. Ability to offer new solutions to problems outside of set parameters and is able to construct and provide recommendations. Uses multiple internal and external sources outside of own function to help arrive at a decisions.Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related technical discipline from an accredited college or university (or equivalent experience with 10+ years in engineering and/or manufacturing operations ).Minimum of 5 years of experience in engineering and/or manufacturing operations with demonstrated ability on problem solving.Eligibility Requirements
This position is 100% onsite at the GE Schenectady site and primarily on 1st shift.Candidate must currently be legally authorized to work in the USA without sponsorship now or in the future.Relocation assistance considered only within the USA.Desired Characteristics
General knowledge of metal casting and use of engineering fundamentals such as the various physics that drive and control casting processes.Experience with leading a team of engineers.Drive to execute in challenging and fulfilling manufacturing environment that operates under tight timelines and aggressive schedules.Strong problem-solving skills coupled with deep manufacturing experience. Demonstrated ability to coach and develop these skills in teammates/direct reports.Demonstrated capability to handle multiple tasks or projects and to develop/lead an action plan.Proficient in MS Office Suite, with Six Sigma Methods & Tools, and associated engineering statistical methods.Strong oral and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.Pay Transparency
The base pay range for this position is $131,700.00 - $175,000.00 USD Annual. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for 15 % variable incentive compensation.
*The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas.
