**DESCRIPTION**
**Key Responsibilities:**
+ **Knowledge of Base Engine Components** : Understanding of engine components and the engine as a system is required.
+ **Creo Skill Set** : Proficiency in Creo is a must.
+ **Stakeholder Collaboration** : Obtain input from stakeholders such as technical managers, project leaders, other product and manufacturing engineers, and supplier partners to deliver information and recommendations that lead to quality product decisions.
+ **Decision Making** : Apply academic knowledge and existing experience to take action and make decisions that progress projects forward without sacrificing project quality expectations.
+ **Process Improvement** : Apply and improve processes such as Engineering Standard Work (ESW), iDFMEA, Failure Incident Review Group (FIRG), and tools such as 7-step problem solving, design review checklist, and other specialized tools.
+ **Project Leadership** : Provide independent leadership of smaller business impact projects or ownership of complex components, products, systems, or services with greater elements of ambiguity.
+ **Work Process Development** : Lead the development and improvement of work processes and systems across a functional discipline area within a business unit site.
+ **Team Coordination** : Coordinate and direct work amongst technicians and temporary student employees, and assist in the transfer of knowledge to lesser experienced engineers.
+ **Technical Direction** : Provide support and guidance to influence technical direction within a project team and continue to develop proficiency in critical competency areas.
+ **Specialist Role** : Operate as a recognized specialist in a discipline or product area within the immediate team.
**RESPONSIBILITIES**

+ **Product Development Execution, Monitoring, and Control** : Plan, schedule, coordinate, and execute activities involved in developing a product to meet project resource and quality expectations.
+ **Product Failure Mode Avoidance** : Mitigate potential product failure modes to improve the reliability of Cummins’ products.
+ **Product Function Modeling, Simulation, and Analysis** : Impact product design decisions through computational tools and methods.
+ **Product Interface Management and Integration** : Identify and analyze interfaces and interactions across system boundaries to ensure product requirements are met.
+ **Product Problem Solving** : Solve product problems using a process that protects the customer and implements robust, data-based solutions.
+ **Product Verification and Validation Management** : Develop product systems validation plans to identify failure modes and manage product risk.
+ **System Requirements Engineering** : Translate stakeholder needs into verifiable requirements and track the status of requirements throughout the system lifecycle.
+ **Technical Documentation** : Document information based on knowledge gained from technical function activities and communicate to stakeholders.
+ **Communication** : Develop and deliver multi-mode communications that convey a clear understanding of the unique needs of different audiences.
+ **Resourcefulness** : Secure and deploy resources effectively and efficiently.

+ **Design and Application of Open/Closed Loop Controls** : Specify software features that interact with mechanical, hydraulic, chemical, and electronic systems.

+ **Mechanical Design of Mechanical Systems** : Acquire and apply an in-depth understanding of mechanical systems to create innovative and sound design concepts.
+ **Leadership** : Demonstrated ability to lead projects and coordinate work among team members.
+ **Problem-Solving** : Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make data-driven decisions.

**Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:**
+ **Educational Background** : A Bachelor’s degree in engineering or an appropriate STEM field is required. A master’s degree relevant to this discipline area may be required for select roles. Office tools is preferred.
**QUALIFICATIONS**
+ **Experience** : Prior Senior or Lead Engineer equivalent work experience in a relevant discipline area is required, with a demonstrated track record of technical problem solving and quality decision making.
+ **Technical Skills** : Proficiency in Creo and other relevant engineering tools and processes. Knowledge of MS
