In this position... 

This position is in Ford’s Environment and Safety Compliance (E&SC) division, responsible for ensuring all Ford vehicles are compliant with regulatory requirements.  This team directly interfaces with agencies in emissions and environmental regulations. Key activities involve the planning and execution of laboratory tests needed to demonstration compliance to the global standards, including generation of applications and required documentation to support global Certification and Homologation.

You'll have... 

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical Engineering or related Degree with relevant experience. Minimum 1+ year of experience.  Knowledge of vehicle powertrain components, basic understanding of vehicle electrification and global regulations, including environmental test requirements. Ability to be on-site to support witnessed testing and familiarity with environmental testing, and ability to be on-site to conduct FTTP testing, as required. Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, often times with conflicting/competing objectives.  The ability to build strong working relationships with global Ford E&SC colleagues as well as Government Authorities in various markets.        Occasional travel may be required.

What you'll do...

Planning, execution, and management of Fuel Tank Temperature Profile (FTTP) testing to support product development and official testing, including assessment of new configurations to ensure ongoing compliance and Manual Transmission Shift Surveys and ongoing maintenance of Shift Schedules to support testing in Allen Park Test Laboratory (APTL). Planning, execution, and management of official environmental homologation test programs (emissions, EMC, Pass-by-noise, and engine power) in support of Homologation to non- US markets.  Coordinate and support witness testing for EMC, noise, and power testing with PD, VEV and Witnessing Technical Service where required for export markets. Negotiate worse-casing agreements with Government testing/approval authoritie and issue test requests, coordinate emission witness testing with APTL and witnessing Technical Service and Conduct emissions certification testing for export markets.  Assess unexpected program timing impact due to hardware design changes, cycle plan changes, testing complications or agency testing. Lead coordination and collection of data and technical attestations which support key attribute (fuel and exhaust systems, e.g.) statements of compliance in support of launch deadlines and collection, and publication of Certification compliance plan information in support of US Certification milestone deadlines Help coordinate efforts to improve prototype vehicle readiness for official environmental testing through the newly launched “Ready For Cert” process. Support forecasting efforts for build instrumentation/sign-off team, mileage accumulation, and emissions test laboratories (APTL and ELD)and process improvements for Timing Management, including assessing block-timing assumptions utilizing historical data and testing out new VHCOS timing management system.
