Position Overview The International Motors Product Homologation team is an essential part of the Certification and Compliance organization, dedicated to ensuring that all vehicles are designed, validated, and documented to meet all applicable regulatory requirements. Our team ensures that necessary evidence demonstrating compliance is effectively maintained. The Product Homologation Project Engineer plays a vital role in contributing to the success of this mission. As the Certification and Compliance representative on program teams implementing new technologies, the Project Engineer provides regulatory expertise, identifies relevant regulations, assists with developing regulatory requirement validation plans, and reviews and approves compliance documentation. This position also serves as the lead expert in assigned regulatory areas and supports regulatory program planning. In addition to project-related responsibilities, the role actively identifies opportunities for process improvements, manages regulatory agency audits, and mentors less experienced team members. Responsibilities Regulatory Identification: Identify regulations that apply to programs implementing new technologies and ensure compliance with regulatory standards. Regulatory Compliance Plans: Collaborate with program engineering teams to develop plans to create and document evidence demonstrating the regulatory compliance of new technologies. Compliance Documentation Management: Maintain a comprehensive library of compliance documentation for assigned vehicle models and technology areas, ensuring all necessary evidence is easily accessible and up to date. Product Change Monitoring: Monitor product changes to assess potential impacts on regulatory compliance and ensure that appropriate compliance documentation is created and maintained. Regulatory Agency Audits: Manage interactions with regulatory agencies, including handling information requests and leading audits for assigned areas, ensuring all compliance requirements are met. Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement improvements to regulatory processes and workflows to increase efficiency and compliance accuracy. Minimum Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science At least 5 years of experience in product design/development and/or computer science experience OR Master’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science At least 3 years of experience in product design/development and/or computer science experience OR PhD in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science Additional Requirements Qualified candidates, excluding current International Motors employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. International Motors does not anticipate providing employment related work sponsorship for this position (e.g., H-1B status) Desired Skills Regulatory Knowledge: Thorough understanding of North American (US/Canada/Mexico) federal regulations and regulation interpretations for commercial vehicles. State and Provincial Regulations Awareness: Awareness of North American state and provincial regulations related to commercial vehicles. Engineering Specifications: Ability to create engineering specifications and validation procedures from regulatory texts and guidelines. Clear Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical information into clear and concise terms for non-technical personnel. Emotional Intelligence: High level of emotional intelligence, with an ability to collaborate effectively with teams and individuals with different working styles and communication preferences. Program Management: Understanding of phase-gate program management principles and the ability to successfully complete assignments within this framework.
