Reporting to the **Product Planning Director** , the **Product Innovation Manager (PIM)** plays a critical role in shaping the future of water quality instrumentation at Hach. This role is a customer insight strategist who can go to customer sites, collaborate with them to understand their needs and pain points, and translate into actionable business decisions with our R&D and commercial team. A champion of customer understanding, this position is responsible for identifying, defining, and quantifying new business opportunities that drive product innovation and technical breakthroughs. The PIM collaborates closely with R&D, Marketing, Sales, and the Advanced Technology Group to ensure new products meet current and emerging customer needs. This is a highly cross-functional, customer-centric role that requires strategic thinking, data-driven decision-making, and a proactive, entrepreneurial mindset. This position is part of the Product team and is located in **Düsseldorf, Germany; Berlin, Germany; Geneva, Switzerland; or Loveland, CO. It offers a flexible schedule.**
**In this role, a typical day will look like:**
Innovation & Influence
+ Champion new product ideas from ideation through the “design frozen” phase using Accelerated Product Development (APD) process.
+ Act as a customer advocate, translating Voice of Customer (VoC) insights into actionable product requirements for product development teams.
+ Influence cross-functional teams without direct authority to align on product vision and priorities.
Product Development
+ Lead business case development for new product concepts, integrating market trends, competitive intelligence, and insights gathered from direct customer feedback.
+ Scope product requirements and define value propositions that balance innovation with feasibility and ROI.
+ Prioritize customer needs using structured frameworks and data analysis.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
+ Partner with R&D, Marketing, Sales, and Advanced Technology to ensure alignment on product strategy and execution.
+ Facilitate workshops and discussions to uncover unmet needs and validate concepts.
+ Support go-to-market planning and early-stage commercialization efforts.
Process Improvement & Strategic Thinking
+ Continuously improve innovation processes and tools to strengthen Hach’s systematic understanding of innovation opportunities and accelerate time-to-market.
+ Develop and execute strategic plans that align with Hach’s mission to ensure water quality for people around the world.
+ Apply systems thinking to simplify complexity and drive clarity in decision-making.
**The essential requirements of the job include:**
+ Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering or a related scientific discipline.
+ 3–5+ years of experience in Product Planning, Product Management, or Product Innovation in a B2B technical environment.
+ Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence without authority.
+ Strong analytical skills with the ability to distill complex data into clear recommendations.
+ Experience with VoC methodologies and product development frameworks.
+ Excellent communication and storytelling skills—both written and verbal.
+ MBA or equivalent business education strongly preferred.
+ Experience in water quality, instrumentation, or environmental technology industries (preferred).
+ Familiarity with Agile, Lean, or Stage-Gate product development processes (preferred).
+ Exposure to international markets and global product launches (preferred).
+ Travel expectations up to 25%.

The below range reflects the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future. An associate’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors, including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, any collective bargaining agreements, and business or organizational needs.
The compensation range for this role is $110,000.00 - $150,000.00 USD per year. This job is also eligible for Bonus Pay.
We offer a comprehensive package of benefits including paid time off, medical/dental/vision insurance and 401(k) to eligible employees.
