The Product Line Manager plays a critical role in the business development at Silgan Dispensing and will partner with colleagues from across multiple regions and functions to grow the business. The individual will have specific responsible for the growth and profitability of their category. This role is the key bridge between Sales, Marketing and Operations to align commercial opportunities with manufacturing and financial results.
A successful individual will engage regularly with internal and external partners to drive growth of existing product lines, assist in the identification and development of new products, deliver timely and smart pricing that wins business while protecting margin, and drives new pipeline opportunities.
Key Responsibilities:
Obtain a deep understanding of the North American Fragrance market to collaborate in developing a market strategy and identify growth opportunities.Market mapping per customer per brandUnderstand filling locations and filling process (in-house / fillers)Network with industry partners (glass bottles, over caps) in North America and Latin-America to contrast trends and identify opportunities.Competitor analysis – Manufacturing location, products made locally, metal suppliers.Trend analysisProduct Line Management for:Clear product positioning within the SDS fragrance portfolioDetailed understanding of the costs per product and benchmarked with other Silgan production facilities.Margin enhancementCapacity control and recommendationsExpansion of the portfolio with new features and specificationsSupport Sales Team with:Creation of value propositions and messagingSupport on standard price strategy and updating, pricing for RFQ’s and custom project quotesGeneration and updating of sales tools (generic product and innovation messaging PPT’s, technical catalogues, sales kits, SAM library, collateral, etc)Customer visits and presentationsExecution of trade show activitiesTrainingThe main skills required for this are:
Strong business acumen, a customer-facing demeanor, and the ability to balance customer needs with operational efficiency.Analytical skills with ability to synthesize.Curious – a desire to learn, investigate.Capability to think out of the box and question the status quo.Ability to quickly develop a good sense of market / customer needs.Financial acumen to understand cost models, market pricing, P&L levers, and margin management.Proven ability to interact with customers and cross-functional teams.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (presentations, verbal & written) to work in a multi-cultural environment.Requirements
Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) or higher from four-year college or universityFour (4) plus years related experience in the Fragrance, Beauty, Personal Care and / or Packaging Industry8-10 years of Product Line Management experienceHigh proficiency in English and Excel is requiredFrench is a plus but not mandatory.SAP is a plus but not mandatory.Travel up to 25%: Focus will be to multiple customers / plants / trade shows. Possible intercontinental travel.Candidate must be willing to travel to the Thomaston, CT office once a month if located outside of the area or as work requires.Pay Range: $121,000 -$138,000
