A Manager, AI Products is a strategic product management leader who manages and develops a team responsible for one or more complex AI-driven products. A player-coach role, this position blends the individual skillset of a Product Manager with that of a leader of people, driving AI and ML capabilities to solve enterprise-level problems at Thrivent. This leader is responsible for setting the long-term strategy and vision for a set of products as well as for the performance and growth of the product practitioners on the product team(s) they oversee. Manager, AI Products is critical for AI product development at Thrivent, overseeing products that leverage data science, machine learning, and generative AI capabilities. They lead product discovery efforts to ensure AI-powered products provide tangible business value, optimize user experience, and continuously improve based on data-driven insights. They work cross-functionally with engineering, data science, analytics, and business teams, bridging the gap between AI capabilities and business needs. They bring clarity and strategic vision to the development of AI-driven personalization, recommendation systems, and GenAI-enhanced experiences. They possess a strong understanding of model governance, model monitoring, algorithmic decision-making, and ethical AI considerations—ensuring that AI-driven solutions align with business objectives, regulatory requirements, and responsible AI principles. These AI-driven products will enhance the experiences of Thrivent’s 2.1 million clients and 2,100 financial advisors, ensuring they receive personalized financial advice, tailored offers, and intelligent support that deepens relationships and drives financial well-being. A Manager, AI Products typically will have deep experience as a product manager and developing artificial intelligence products, and should aspire to manage both products and people. They play a key role across product stakeholders and partner teams at Thrivent to actively engage, develop, coach and influence product team operations, practices, and talent to drive best-in-class AI-driven product development and AI innovation. This role typically has direct supervision responsibilities for Product Owners, Scrum Masters, and AI-focused Product Managers. Develops a compelling AI product vision through analysis of AI/ML capabilities, use cases, customer benefits, and business value propositions. + Consistently and iteratively ensures business strategies are executed through AI-driven product roadmaps, leveraging machine learning, data science, and generative AI to drive measurable outcomes. + Recruits, develops, and sustains a high-performing team while promoting a culture of shared accountability, operational excellence, and partnership across the organization. + Acquire, maintain, and apply advanced knowledge of AI/ML product development, as well as business domain expertise, to drive AI-powered transformation. + Stay at the forefront of AI industry trends, innovations, and best practices to ensure Thrivent remains competitive and leverages emerging AI/ML capabilities effectively. + Collaborates across product teams to develop and roll out operational plans. + Engages with customers and users on a regular basis to uncover implicit and explicit needs and translate to product hypothesis which are tested and refined to deliver solutions. + Ensure AI-driven outcomes fit within capacity constraints and are prioritized and sequenced to maximize business impact and user experience. + Identifies and tracks Key Performance Metrics; accountable to ensure that KPIs are delivering the necessary business value. + Drive AI product governance and compliance, ensuring that AI models are properly monitored, explainable, and compliant with ethical AI principles, model governance standards, and regulatory requirements. + Facilitates conversations and coaching with product teams and relevant stakeholders to address gaps and necessary improvements to delivering specific improvements. + Champion AI model performance tracking and iteration, defining and monitoring key performance metrics (KPIs) for AI products, including model accuracy, drift detection, business impact, and user adoption. + Accountable to ensure that AI product teams understand the business outcomes needed, and that business outcomes are tied to a broader business goal or objective. + Collaborates to resolve conflicts in a constructive manner when they arise. + Leads team collaboration to manage and prioritize product roadmap and releases across multiple AI products. + QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS: Required: + Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Data Science, Business Analytics, Engineering, or a related discipline) or equivalent work experience. A Master’s degree in AI, Data Science, Business Analytics, or MBA is a plus. + 7-10 years of relevant experience in product management, product ownership, business intelligence, data science, AI/ML strategy, or similar analytical roles with a strong business impact. + Demonstrated expertise in AI-driven product management, including experience with machine learning, generative AI, recommendation systems, and AI/ML lifecycle management. + Deep analytical acumen and experience translating data insights into business value, with a background in business intelligence, data science, or advanced analytics. + Strong understanding of AI/ML fundamentals, including model governance, model monitoring, bias mitigation, explainability, and MLOps practices. + Proven experience in project planning, execution, and cross-functional collaboration, ensuring AI/ML initiatives are successfully developed, deployed, and iterated upon. + Expertise in Agile Product Management principles, including iterative development, sprint planning, backlog refinement, and stakeholder management. + High level of organization, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple complex initiatives simultaneously. + Passion for emerging AI technologies and ability to stay ahead of industry trends to drive AI innovation within product strategy. + Excellent communication, collaboration, and influence skills, with the ability to engage both technical teams (data scientists, engineers) and business stakeholders (executives, marketing, operations). + Strong executive communication and facilitation skills, ensuring alignment between AI product strategy and business objectives. Preferred: + Certified Product Manager or similar AI/ML product certification (e.g., AIPMM, Coursera’s AI Product Management, or Google’s AI PM training). + Prior Supervisory or Leadership Experience – Experience managing direct reports, particularly in product ownership, data science, or analytics roles. + Advanced Data Analytics & Business Intelligence – Proficiency in tools like SQL, Python, Tableau, Power BI, or similar to extract insights and inform AI-driven product decisions. + AI/ML Experience familiarity – While not expected to develop models, familiarity with AI/ML workflows, model deployment tools (e.g., Databricks, SageMaker, TensorFlow), and experimentation platforms is a plus. + Advanced MS Office & Presentation Skills – Expertise in Excel (financial modeling, analytics) and PowerPoint (executive storytelling, AI strategy presentation). The applicable salary or hourly wage range for this full-time role is $130,210.00 - $176,167.00 per year, which factors in various geographic regions. The base pay actually offered will be determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to, location, relevant experience, skills, and knowledge, business needs, market demand, and other factors Thrivent deems important.
