**Product Manager, DXP** **Department:** Digital **Employment Type:** Full Time **Location:** Stephen A. Schwarzman Building **Reporting To:** Robert Collins **Compensation:** $120,000 - $125,000 / year **Description** **This is not a remote role. This is a hybrid role; 3 days in office in NYC; 2 days remote** **Overview** The New York Public Library has been an essential provider of free books, information, ideas, and education for all New Yorkers for over 125 years. Founded in 1895, NYPL is the nation's largest neighborhood public library system and the most used research library in the world. NYPL provides a fundamental resource to millions of readers, learners and scholars. The digital portfolio of products and platforms is the core lynchpin in how our patrons near and far can access information to create new content, support their personal learning and build stronger communities. Reporting to the Director of Digital Product, the Product Manager of DXP is responsible for driving the digital product and platform delivery and strategy of the DXP team. This role will focus on the public website nypl.org and work closely with the content teams to ensure a consistent and cohesive web presence. **We are looking for someone we can count on to:** **Own** : + The product discovery to delivery journey + Product roadmaps, and development of KPIs and OKRs + Translation of broad business and user needs into non-ambiguous requirements and product user stories for our development teams + Analysis of market trends to understand the current landscape **Teach** : + Best practices of product development to the entire product discovery and delivery team to ensure everyone is running in unison **Learn:** + The key patron needs, latest technologies, institutions needs and constraints to properly represent them in key decision making moments **Improve** : + The desired metrics for the project **Some expectations for this role are that within:** **1 month** , this person will: + Understand the functional structure and core mission of NYPL + Understand the organization and roles within the Digital Team + Establish contacts in all functional areas of the Digital Team including: Content Strategy, Technical Lead, Design/UX, Project Management and QA **3 months** , this person will: + Be able to participate in and contribute to scrum meetings including use of JIRA, Confluence, Airtable and other product management tools + Establish contacts across the institution to discover business needs + Have a working knowledge of the Drupal admin interface **6 months and beyond** , this person will: + Communicate stakeholder findings to Design/UX and Engineering + Author business requirement documentation + Develop domain knowledge and understanding of user needs and pain points for assigned areas **Responsibilities:** The Product Manager of DXP is directly accountable for: + Driving the overall delivery of the nypl.org, in service to achieving our core goals of the Library. This includes: + Using the best of human centered design approaches to ensure we are solving the right problem for our patrons + Critically thinking about the solution, features and technologies used to ensure what we set out to build is achievable and best in class + Partnering closely with your fellow Digital counterparts in Design, Technology and Project Management to ensure we are collaborating well and fully aligned on mission and the roadmap + Socializing and sharing the roadmaps, plans and key findings to stakeholders across the library + Working in partnership with senior leadership on product strategy and vision. + Supporting the discipline of Product Management by using and always learning the latest and best practices of Product Management and sharing lessons learned with the broader discipline + Collaborate with engineers and stakeholders to build high-quality web properties for our patrons and library staff + Analysis of market trends and conduct “top down” competitive analysis to understand the current landscape, as well as “bottom up” understanding of our user needs. + Definition of high-quality tests and products to determine valuable new features and products. + Translation of broad business and user needs into non-ambiguous requirements and product user stories for our development teams + Perform other related duties as necessary **Required Education, Experience & Skills** **Required Education and Certifications** + Bachelor's degree in technology, business, psychology or related field -OR - 5+ years of experience as a product owner in a technology services/digital media organization or combination of both degree and lesser experience (no less than 3 years of direct experience) **Required Experience** + Familiarity with content management systems: Drupal, Content Cafe, Contentful, etc. + Use of Scrum methodologies, specifically the practice of writing User Stories and Acceptance Criteria **Required Skills** + Demonstrable ability to work on a deadline + Organized, focused, extremely detailed oriented and adept at prioritization + Ability to work collaboratively with multiple technical and non-technical teams to develop goals Excellent interpersonal, presentation, oral and written communication skills, including the ability to work effectively with all levels of staff and users **Managerial/Supervisory Responsibilities:** + N/A **More...** **Core Values** _All team members are expected and encouraged to embody the NYPL Core Values:_ + Be **Helpful** to patrons and colleagues + Be **Resourceful** in solving problems + Be **Curious** in all aspects of your work + Be **Welcoming** and **Inclusive** **Work Environment** + Hybrid work environment; 3 days in office; some days remote work **Physical Duties** + Some light lifting may be required **Pre-Placement** **Physical Required?** No **Union/Non Union** Non-Union **FLSA Status** Exempt **Schedule** + Monday - Friday 9am-5pm, 35 hrs per week + This is a hybrid role; 3 days in office in NYC; 2 days remote _This job description represents the types and levels of responsibilities that will be required of the position and shall not be construed as a declaration of all of the specific duties and responsibilities for the role.
