Purpose 

 

The purpose of the Manager of Investment Product Development position is to assist in the creation and implementation of investment products tailored for international markets, particularly in Latin America and the Caribbean. This role is essential for supporting the growth strategies of the international asset management businesses. 

 

Key Objectives include:

 

Product Development: Participate in the development of new investment products, ensuring they meet market needs and regulatory requirements.  Expert Guidance: Become a subject matter expert in international investment funds, providing insights and advice to various departments and international partners.  Strategic Collaboration: Working closely with the Senior Manager of Investment Products Development and partner countries to align product offerings with business goals.  Market Expansion: Supporting the expansion of the company's presence in international markets by conducting competitive and investment product analysis.  Growth Support: Contributing to growth strategies of the international asset management businesses by enabling the successful rollout of new products. 

This role is crucial for ensuring that the company's investment products are competitive, compliant, and aligned with the strategic objectives of the international business.

 

Accountabilities

 

Development and Implementation: Accountable for the development (or co-development) and implementation of investment products, primarily mutual funds, in various Latin American and/or Caribbean countries in support of the business strategies of our international asset management businesses.  Market and Competitor Assessments: Conduct comprehensive market and competitor assessments, and (when required) develop business cases that support various investment product delivery and implementation.  Disciplined Product Development: Develop and implement a disciplined approach to product development grounded in idea generation, product scoping/analysis.  Collaboration: Collaborate with a number of bank subsidiaries and departments, both domestically and internationally (e.g., Strategy, Risk Management, Marketing, Finance, Legal, Compliance, and 1832 Asset Management) to ensure investment product development projects are completed within the budget and established timelines.  Advice and Counsel: Recommend and drive product enhancements to improve product quality, profitability, and marketability.

 

Responsibilities 

 

Pricing and Profit Analysis: Analyze and review product pricing and profit metrics.  Growth Opportunities: Support growth opportunities such as strategic acquisitions by participating in due diligence meetings and analysis as required. Relationship Management: Manage relationships and lead regular communication with country-based product managers and investment managers to ensure a solid understanding of portfolios and support communication of the same, providing recommendations and advice on strategic and operational aspects of the fund business.  Ad Hoc Policies and Procedures: Develop and implement ad hoc policies and procedures required to launch and sustain complicated investment products/services/initiatives by working closely with the Senior Manager, Investment Product Development. Fund Manager and Product Selection: Provide support and guidance on fund manager and product selection  Best Practices: Develop and maintain solid knowledge of mutual funds best practices to support communication and implementation of these practices in various countries and businesses.

Fluency in both English and Spanish (written and oral) is required  Experience in developing products and strategies in the investment fund industry is an asset but not required.  Experience working with International financial services is an asset.  Appropriate investment industry accreditation to support investment product and service development. This should include accreditation such as Canadian Securities Course, Investment Funds in Canada, and/or a Financial Planner designation, CIM designation, CFA designation (or progress towards)  Strong analytical, financial analysis skills and knowledge of current project management methods. Detailed knowledge of word-processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software are essential.  Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.  Strong initiative, forward thinking and creative problem-solving skills
