Product Manager – Biomaterials

The Opportunity:

Avantor seeks a motivated and experienced Product Manager – Biomaterials to join our team.

Reporting to Product Leadership, the Product Manager - Biomaterials is responsible for all activities associated with the growth, expansion, and sustainability of supply of the NuSil Biomedical materials product catalog. This will include but will not be limited to IOP planning, pricing, product portfolio rationalization, production prioritization and opportunity / NPD portfolio steering. The Product Manager - Biomaterials will collaborate closely with Operations & Scheduling, Commercial Account Managers, Research & Development, and Engineering teams in the course of performing the aforementioned activities. The Product Manager - Biomaterials will work closely with peer Product Managers to ensure alignment on all aspects of future business growth.

What we’re looking for 

Education: Bachelor’s degree (B. A. / B. S.) in Marketing, Sciences, chemical engineering, or equivalent.

Experience: 8 years’ experience working in the biopharma, biomaterials, or chemical industry.

5 years’ experience working with customers and cross-functionally with R & D, manufacturing, regulatory affairs, and sales.

Previous experience identifying market opportunities and determining feasibility.

Experience and Knowledge in doing business with a good understanding of strategy development for the biopharma industry.

Product management, marketing strategy, and product launch planning skills will also be beneficial.

Highly capable of analyzing large data sets and communicating findings using EXCEL, WORD, POWERPOINT, etc.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills regarding all aspects of products, services, and related information

Strong analytical skills

Advanced skills in MS Office products, specifically Excel

Broad range of influencing and negotiation skills

Ability to lead cross-functional teams to execute complex tasks in a growing and changing environment

Demonstrated working with integrity and intensity

Demonstrated entrepreneurial capability while working within a large company

How you will thrive and create an impact 

Ownership of the commercialized Biomaterials product portfolio, including regular review of product-level offerings and portfolio rationalization as needed.

Key stakeholder and partner to R&D in prioritizing & steering the Biomaterials new product development (NPD) project portfolio, including voice of market, production capacity modeling, and margin analysis.

Leadership of annual IOP process, with close collaboration with commercial and supply chain to develop SKU level budgeting.

Set pricing for products in the context of product costs, market and competitive conditions, value to customer, pricing strategy, geographic locations, and internal (manufacturing) capabilities.

Owner of annual product portfolio review, including 80/20 portfolio optimization and execution of agreed upon product dispositions.

Responsible for determining appropriate product MOQ’s and providing direction of MTS/MTO product strategy.

Accountability for providing direction to supply chain and operations regarding priorities of product builds.

Help define success criteria for new commercial products and ensure projected timelines and financial projections are met.

Responsible for product site-of-manufacture strategy.

Work with the supply chain teams to align plant and supply chain efforts to achieve optimum return for resource deployment and provide prioritization where needed.

Monitor the product margins ensure profit goals are met; develop and implement plans to optimize profitability.

Sets long-term goals and drives for completion of goals for product master data teams.  This includes documentation and maintenance of product master data processes.

Responsible for designing and implementing data quality initiatives holding cross-functional teams accountable for data quality.

Guide supply chain team on key supply issues while elevating recurring or high-risk situations.

Analysis of customer purchase and growth trends and translating findings into meaningful actions to drive growth.

Perform other duties as identified or assigned.

ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL EFFORT (Under Typical Positions)

Typically works in an office environment with adequate lighting and ventilation and a normal range of   temperature and noise level.

Work assignments are diversified. Examples of past precedent are used to resolve work problems. New alternatives may be developed to resolve problems.

Travel may be required; should not exceed 25% of time.

A frequent volume of work and deadlines impose strain on routine basis. 

Minimal physical effort is required. Work is mostly sedentary but does require walking, standing, bending, reaching, lifting or carrying objects that typically weigh less than 10 lbs.

Pay Transparency:

The expected pre-tax pay for this position is

$109,000.00 - $181,000.00

Actual pay may differ depending on relevant factors such as prior experience and geographic location.
