Reporting to the Director of Controls & Hardware Products, the Product Manager will oversee the entire product lifecycle for hardware and software-based energy optimisation products and services offered by RES Digital Solutions These products and services are specifically those focused on wind, solar, and energy storage systems in renewables. This role requires technical expertise, strategic thinking, and exceptional collaboration across various departments including engineering, marketing, sales, and customer support. The Product Manager will be responsible for defining and enhancing product requirements, working closely with cross-functional teams, and leading the product development process through an entire lifecycle, all while ensuring alignment with customer feedback and market research.
Accountabilities:

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Product Strategy:

Lead the development and execution of product strategies for wind, solar, and energy storage technologies with R&D, engineering, marketing, and operations teams.Collaborate with sales, customer service, and technical to define product priorities and align on solutions that best meet customer needs.Foster communication between internal departments and external stakeholders to ensure a unified approach to product development and market positioning.

Market & Customer Research:

Conduct in-depth market research to identify trends, customer needs, and emerging industry opportunities.Use insights to inform product roadmaps and prioritize features that drive competitive advantage.Engage directly with partners and stakeholders to gather feedback on product performance, usability, and unmet needs.Work closely with the marketing team to define customer personas, create go-to-market strategies, and ensure that product positioning is aligned with market demands.

Product Lifecycle Management:

Lead product development through a structured process from ideation to launch, ensuring the integration of market and customer feedback at each stage.Collaborate with engineering and technical teams to define product specifications, ensuring products are scalable, reliable, and meet performance benchmarks.Manage product performance post-launch, working with operations and support teams to monitor, measure, and continuously improve product effectiveness.

Customer Interaction & Feedback Integration:

Maintain direct communication with customers to ensure product features align with needs and resolve issues related to product performance/design.Use customer insights to refine product roadmaps, enhance functionality, and guide feature prioritization.Develop customer-facing materials, including product documentation, case studies, and product demos.

Marketing Strategy & Product Positioning:

Work with the marketing team to develop a comprehensive product marketing strategy, ensuring effective communication of product value propositions and differentiation in the renewable energy market.Define go-to-market plans and support the execution of product launches while collaborating with marketing on promotional activities, events, and sales collateral.Ensure the sales team has the necessary tools, training, and insights to effectively communicate product benefits to customers and prospects.

Performance Monitoring & Continuous Improvement:

Regularly assess product performance using key metrics such as energy output, system efficiency, customer satisfaction, and cost-effectiveness.Lead efforts to identify areas for performance optimization through design improvements, operational adjustments and new technology integrations.Stay up to date with industry developments, regulatory changes, and technological innovations.Knowledge, Skills & Experience:In-depth knowledge of renewable energy technologies, including wind, solar, and energy storage systems.Proven ability to conduct and apply market and customer research to define product priorities and guide development.Strong project management skills, with experience overseeing products through a structured development process.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to effectively communicate product strategy to diverse teams and stakeholders.Ability to analyze complex data and translate customer insights into actionable product strategies.Passion for renewable energy and environmental sustainability.Collaborative mindset with the ability to work across teams and departments to achieve shared goals.Customer-focused, with a strong ability to listen to customer needs and translate those into product features and solutions.Innovative and results-driven, with the ability to balance long-term vision with short-term execution.Strong track record of managing products through the entire lifecycle, including market research, development, and customer-facing interactions.Experience working in a cross-disciplinary environment, collaborating with engineering, marketing, sales, and customer service teams to drive product success.Qualifications:Bachelor’s degrees in Engineering, Renewable Energy, Environmental Science, or a related field required.MBA or advanced degrees in Engineering, Renewable Energy, Environmental Science, or a related field preferred.5+ years of product management experience, preferably within renewable energy, clean tech, or energy systems required.At RES we celebrate difference as we know it makes our company a great place to work.
