Product Owner (PO)   

The Product Owner (PO) role comprises two key domains: 

·       Product Management membership – operates as part of an extended Product Management 

community in the Part Manufacturing Business Line 

·       Team Membership – Agile team member. Owns the backlog and represents the customers 

In the Digital Manufacturing segment, the Product Owner is engaged with customers, stakeholders, and teams’ execution (an outbound and inbound position).  The Product Owner has a significant role in increasing and potentially maximizing the value produced by the team. It is a full-time role per team that, leverages Lean-Agile practices and mindset.

We are looking for an innovative Product Owner to lead the development of a next-generation platform for manufacturing applications. This platform will improve access to applications that enhance efficiency, productivity, and sustainability while promoting integration with other products through robust APIs, beyond NX CAM.

Areas of Responsibilities: 

Ideation, managing and prioritizing the backlog 

·       Understand customer needs, while leveraging continuous exploration and design thinking tools 

·       Know the competition, functionality, focus on gaps and advantages 

·       Connect with customers: customer meetings, visits, interviews, demos, etc... 

·       Collaborate with other POs and the Product Portfolio Leads to achieve the desired product/solution completeness for the Part Manufacturing Business Line 

·       Pruning, maturing and prioritising the Program Backlog together with the Program Management Community (Strategy Team,  POs and PPL) and the stakeholders (UX, Architects, ….)

·       Ensure alignment on product positioning and go-to-market strategy.

* Pruning & maturing is the work to synthesise inputs from multiple sources into a coherent set of requirements    

Vision and roadmap 

·       Understanding and influencing the vision and roadmap of the Part Manufacturing Business Line (as part of the DI SW DM segment and beyond)

·       Supporting the business owners & Product Portfolio Leads in achieving the KPI's 

Supporting the team in delivering value 

·       Prepare Features for Progam Increment planning: analyse, and define benefit hypothesis, key user stories and acceptance criteria for each Feature using the team to support as needed 

·       Educate the team on the requirements and customer needs while answering their different questions 

·       Collaborate with UX, architects and Software Engineers to achieve the appropriate level, and sequence of 

enabler work 

·       Participate in PI planning and own the content: 

o    Establish the sequence of backlog items based on program priorities, events, and dependencies with 

other teams 

o    Ensure that stories are well-formed using the 3 c’s (card, conversation, confirmation- acceptance 

criteria) and ‘INVEST’ (Independent, Negotiable, Valuable, Estimable, Small, Testable) 

o    Assists with story splitting and defines enablers, while incorporating behaviour-driven design (BDD)  

o    Use team PI Objectives to communicate with management 

·       Ensure stories meet the user’s needs and acceptance criteria, and that it complies with its Definition of Done (DoD) 

to ensure that quality is built in  

·       Support and promote Built-In Quality practices in the team’s work

·       Address technical debt alongside features to balance product delivery and quality sustainability

·       Collaborate with the Product Management community throughout each Iteration and PI 

·       Work collaboratively with the Agile Team, daily, to make decisions that best represent the customers 

Interests

·       Work collaboratively with the Agile Team to resolve impediments and conflicts and ensure streamlined operations

·       Participate in Team and Program events (iteration planning, daily, iteration review, iteration retrospective, 

system demo, and Inspect and Adapt workshops) 

 

Raising value awareness  

·       Liaise with Product Portfolio Leads and Stakeholders to define what is in the releases 

·       Collaborate with documentation to ensure they have the level of information and support they need 

·       Ensure that Marketing, Sales and Channels have the appropriate level of information they need for their 

communication and execution 

·       Contribute to marketing through social media (this should be done with Marketing team involvement making

sure that any publicity is authorised and with approved content) 

Getting and applying feedback 

·       Frequent feedback from customers and stakeholders occurs from ideation to raising value awareness to actual

·       customer deployment: 

·       Closing the feedback loop- gathering feedback from customers and business owners on  functionality. 

·       Sharing ideas with multiple customers through meetings, demos, forums, EAP (Early adaptation  Program) etc… 

·       Use of analytics, and other methods, to gather feedback 

·       Feedback is sought and shared with the Product Management forum and the Agile Release Train 

Supporting the product 

·       Collaborate with Customer Support to ensure the customer is receiving the support they need

·       Manage the lifetime of solutions and features, including end-of-life 

·       Manage patent and ALRT (Accelerated Launch and Release Team document) 

Knowledge scope: 

·       Deep knowledge in their team’s domain

·       Synthesize insights and data arriving from stakeholders, customers, and other sources, to make the

·       right decisions and maximise the business value 

·       Demonstrate a ‘user mentality’, and use empathy, to relate to user problems 

Training and Development:

·       Participate in product management Community of Practice and Agile communities to exchange ideas and methods.

·       Pursue certifications like SAFe Product Owner to align with Product Management practices

·       Attend industry events to stay updated on product management trends and Agile best practices.

Domain Knowledge:
