Product Owner - Consumer Apps
Consumer Apps is the backbone of data collection at Numerator, powering data from the contributions of our hundreds of thousands of panelists. This information is transformed into actionable data that Fortune 500 companies rely on to shape their strategies and answer critical questions about consumer shopping behavior. As the Product Owner for Consumer Apps, you will play a pivotal role in both day-to-day project management and long-term strategy execution. Collaborating closely with our Product Managers, you’ll help bring our roadmap to life– delivering new features, enhancing existing functionality, addressing technical debt, and continually improving our methods of data collection. You’ll also work hand-in-hand with engineering and QA to resolve product-specific questions, as well as partner with design to refine and elevate the end-user experience. Here are some of the things that you'll be doing on a day-to-day basis: + Facilitate Agile Ceremonies: Help to run stand-ups, sprint planning, and refinement sessions for the development team, ensuring clear communication and alignment within the team. + Backlog Management: Maintain and prioritize a backlog of tickets consisting of well-defined user stories, enabling the team to deliver commitments effectively and efficiently. + Alignment with Product Strategy: Collaborate closely with Consumer Apps’ Product Managers to translate product strategy and goals into actionable steps (tickets) for the development team. + Collaboration and Prioritization: Work with engineering leads and the product team to ensure alignment on sprint priorities, fostering effective collaboration. + User Story Creation: Provide clear direction to the engineering team by crafting user stories with precisely defined acceptance criteria, encompassing testing and validation to meet the definition of “done.” + Resource Allocation: Manage resource allocation across different initiatives, working closely with engineering leaders to ensure optimal utilization of key engineering talent + Quality Assurance and Testing: Facilitate communication with QA for release testing and answer product-specific questions to unblock ticket resolution + Stakeholder Liaison: Act as a liaison between the development team and other stakeholders, collaborating closely with Analytics, Data Science, Design, Numerator Link, Survey and more + Feedback Management: Track, analyze, and manage both internal and external end-user feedback about products to ensure a stable product and to help refine priorities + Advocacy and Issue Resolution: Serve as an advocate for the engineering team, proactively escalating issues, implementing process improvements, resolving blockers, and gaining alignment on important decisions. + Documentation Maintenance: Collaborate with engineers, product and design to maintain up-to-date internal documentation for better knowledge transfer and team alignment. + Communication: Provide clear and concise status updates to various technical and non-technical stakeholders. + Product Launch Preparation: Prepare for product launches, by creating release notes, managing release dates/calendars and monitoring staged rollouts of updates + Experience: 2 to 4 years in a Product Owner or similar product-focused role, preferably with native mobile app experience + Agile Expertise: Solid understanding of Agile/Scrum frameworks, with hands-on experience managing Agile ceremonies and writing stories/requirements. The ability to manage completing tasks, prioritizing and delegating within the engineering team + Technical Skills: Familiarity with tools like JIRA or similar project management software. Working knowledge of SQL is strongly preferred + Communication: Ability to distill complex subjects into simple, actionable insights for diverse audiences. Also is able to ask questions especially when tasks are unclear or greater understanding/clarity is needed. + Organization and Workflow: Both strong collaboration and independent work capabilities. Able to quickly transition between high-level and granular technical discussion; Adaptable to new areas of work and structured problem-solving skills + Prioritization: Being able to understand the broader product and organizational focus to help prioritize tasks accordingly. Strong decision-making abilities, problem-solving and conflict resolution + Analytical Skills: Sharp decision-making abilities with bias for action and a commitment to continuous improvement + Design Sense: An eye for design and user experience to support design workflows effectively + Independent contributor: Able to effectively work through issues independently with minimal input from product managers once provided with a framework. Forward thinking and can anticipate the next issues that may need to be addressed.
