Product Quality Engineer

Summary

The Product Quality Engineer is responsible for the quality of directed work and the associated results. This position works closely with others and a wide degree of responsibility and latitude is expected. The Product Quality Engineer will work primarily within the Continuous Improvement: Product Quality Group of the Ashley Companies on the advancement of product-line wide quality performance to meet or exceed the organization’s strategic quality plans. This will assist in increasing overall customer satisfaction by reducing the frequency and customer impact of quality issues.

Responsibilities

· Contribute regularly within product quality work and communications globally, ensure conformance to defined workflows and assist in managing system, process, product improvement plans and status.

· Complete assigned projects efficiently and with high quality workmanship; communicate constraints effectively, manage multiple projects coincidently.

· Utilize the Continuous Improvement tools and thinking processes of Six Sigma, Theory of Constraints, Statistical Process Control, and Lean to define and execute improvements within the global supply chain. Participate in and make recommendations to quality improvement teams that contribute to the improvement within departmental and organizational communication processes, methodologies and procedures.

· Facilitate product testing and document results; share results and provide recommendations to the global team.

· Monitor quality signatures of overseas teams to create directed work and improvement efforts.

· Support the cultural strategy of driving Continuous Improvement; collaborate with the global team and organizational personnel on building a culture of Continuous Improvement.

· Gather, document and report quality data at the supplier, product, process and attribute levels communicates directly with responsible Vendor Champion’s (VCs), the supplier’s quality personnel and management as related to quality improvement opportunity.

· Monitor quality trends and patterns of overseas teams with systems to create directed work for improvement efforts.

· Coordinate data-driven quality improvements within, and throughout, the global network of internal and external suppliers. Gather, analyze, document and report-out quality data throughout the supply base, while characterizing the supplier’s operations with improvement opportunity mindedness. Identify, document and issue supplier-level corrective action requests, as well as confirm and verify closure on an item-by-item basis.

· Gather, document and report quality data at the supplier, product, process and attribute levels communicating directly with responsible Vendor

· Champions (VCs), the supplier’s quality personnel and management as related to quality improvement issues and track corrective action requests as created. Develop quality control plans at the supplier, product, process and attribute levels. Ensure appropriate workflows are designed, documented and followed, as well as, results are created tracked and archived.

What Do You Need?

•Bachelor Degree in Engineering or equivalent work experience

•2 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment

•Understanding of Lean Processes

•Communicate professionally with internal and external contacts

•Analytical and problem-solving skills

•Proficient computer skills with the Microsoft Office Suite and Solidworks

•Ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced work environment
