Product Safety Representative

We are currently hiring for a Product Safety Representative to join our Research and Development team.  In this role you will be responsible for assisting in the development of the hazard communication language used with all internal and external MAPEI customers and affiliates and will participate in the generation of material safety data sheets (MSDS), warning labels, HMIS ratings, and transportation safety recommendations for MAPEI Americas.  

Author, maintain and update MSDS sheets, warning labels and transportation hazard advisories for products produced in the United States in accordance with all appropriate Federal and State legislative requirements.   Contribute as required in maintaining the existing data base of incoming raw material and product MSDS sheets needed for hazardous material disclosure throughout company.   Evaluate new incoming and outgoing materials and products for HMIS ratings. Prepare and assist in the filing of TSCA pre-manufacturing notices for all new materials produced by MAPEI for sale in the United States.   Work as a primary resource to ensure imported and exported materials comply with US and foreign product safety regulations. Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures, safety rules and instructions. Perform assigned tasks in conformance with procedures and instructions established in the Business Management System (BMS) and in compliance with applicable Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) regulatory requirements. Qualifications  3 years or more of product safety related experience in MSDS and warning label authoring. Minimum requirement of BS or higher in Chemistry, Industrial Hygiene, Toxicology or other Chemical related space. The position requires the ability to work with a personal computer in a Windows environment, proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.  Knowledge in Chemadvisor Data base, Chem SDS+ or similar authoring software and STN express or other related chemical search software.
