In this role you will lead the development of product firmware and supporting software based development tools that will complement and enhance our existing product lines. Software tools are mixture of internal and external, customer facing products.

 In this Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

Enhance product quality though the implementation of appropriate software and firmware development environments, ensuring their adoption and continued use by your team.  Familiarize and apply relevant design standards, particularly those related to recommended approaches.  Understand the impact of cyber security (CRA in particular) on hardware and firmware based product development.  Implement appropriate processes and environments for both software and firmware development to satisfy cybersecurity requirements, where appropriate demonstrating solutions which have previously been adopted in the Emerson wider business. Communicate the justification for design decisions clearly in writing and verbally. Handle 3rd party developers and contractors though the development of clearly defined requirements and acceptance criteria. Specify, implement and review appropriate verification tests and results. Transfer knowledge through written and verbal communication to embed key knowledge.

For This Role, You Will Need: BSc/MSc or equivalent experience in computer science Shown experience of directing a team in the design / development of software or firmware for industrial or consumer products Experience of deployment and management of software / firmware development environment through deployment of appropriate tools (JIRA, GitHub, Jenkins etc.) and processes (Kanban, Agile etc.) Hands on experience of software development, ideally using Python / C / C++ / C# and firmware development. ideally for STM32 microprocessors, including power management, DMA, flash memory management, boot-loaders and update mechanisms Experience of cybersecurity assessment, implementation of standard process for cyber secure product development including development environment and tools. Experience of UX/UI design and of manual and automated software/firmware test. Preferred Qualifications that Set You Apart: Knowledge of communications protocols including SPI, I2C, CAN, UART and WiHART Knowledge of database design and management (SQL) Our Offer To You:
