Trimax Mowing Systems is a rapidly growing NZ company and a globally recognized leader in commercial mowing equipment. We pride ourselves on a customer-first approach, delivering high-quality products and services that set the standard in our market. As we continue to expand, we are seeking an experienced Product Specialist to join our marketing team of 16 staff. This key position will take ownership of managing and growing our product portfolio and sustained product success after launch.
The Product Specialist will thoroughly understand customer needs, drive new development, and manage existing products. Collaboration with cross-functional teams - engineering, marketing, sales, and supply chain - is essential to bring innovative products to market and maintain excellence. The role will also work closely with senior leadership to define the product vision, provide updates on development, sales performance, and market opportunities, and ensure the product portfolio aligns with business growth goals.
YOUR ROLE
Product Lifecycle Management
Lead Trimax's product portfolio, including new product development (NPD) and lifecycle management of existing products. Conduct market research, customer surveys, and competitor analysis to identify new opportunities and trends. Collaborate with engineering, design, and manufacturing teams to ensure products meet customer needs and market demands. Create and maintain product lifecycle plans, including updates, end-of-life strategies, and performance tracking. Participate in regular product price reviews and positioning strategy.New Product Development (NPD) & Innovation
Conduct early-stage market research, including customer visits, trade shows, and competitor analysis, to identify new product opportunities. Create business cases for new products, define scope, price points, and sales forecasts. Define product requirements and collaborate with R&D and engineering for smooth product transitions from concept, testing, to launch. Monitor and implement continuous improvements for existing products, including post-launch feedback and minor enhancements.Collaboration & Cross-Functional Coordination
Collaborate with leadership to define and align the product vision across functions. Serve as a liaison between sales teams to align products with market needs and global goals. Work with marketing, sales, parts and supply chain on successful product launch strategies. Provide training and support to ensure clear product positioning and messaging.Market Research & Customer Insights
Continuously gather and analyse customer insights to ensure products align with evolving market demands. Support the sales team by providing in-depth market data, customer feedback, and competitor intelligence to refine product positioning. Ensure products are positioned correctly in the market by tailoring messaging, features, and benefits to customer needs.Support Marketing & Product Launches
Prodvide initial draft marketing messaging ensuring communication's represent customer needs. Work within marketing team to develop go-to-market strategies and promotional materials. Assist in the creation of training programs and product release strategies to ensure effective internal and external training Ensure successful product launches by managing timelines, aligning with marketing and sales teams, and tracking product performance post-launch.Knowledge Management & Reporting
Maintain a robust knowledge base on all product lines. Document and share knowledge to close knowledge gaps within the business. Provide regular updates to senior management on product development progress, sales performance, and market opportunities.TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS ROLE YOU WILL NEED
A degree in business management, marketing, project management or a related field (or equivalent experience). 5+ years of experience in product management or a related field, ideally within the machinery or commercial product industry. Proven experience managing product lifecycles, from concept to launch, and understanding market trends and customer needs. A passion for understanding customer needs and driving product innovation. Strong collaboration and communication skills, with experience working across functions (e.g., marketing, sales, engineering, and supply chain). Solid understanding of market research methodologies, including customer surveys, competitive analysis, and trend identification. Ability to think strategically, drive product innovation, and deliver results in a fast-paced environment. Experience with product positioning, messaging, and delivering training to both internal and external stakeholders. Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and prioritize effectively.WORKING CONDITIONS
This is a full-time, permanent role based at our office in Tauranga. Regular national and international travel is required to be effective in this role. Flexibility in working hours is necessary to collaborate with international teams in different time zones.All applicants must be eligible to work in New Zealand.
