Product Support Engineer - Aviation Hardware
Overview We are seeking a full-time Product Support Engineer - Aviation Hardware in our Olathe, KS location. In this role, you will be responsible for driving improvements in factory yield, product failure analysis, product sustainability and quality. Essential Functions Support parts obsolescence, replacement part qualification, parts shortages, and Product Change Notifications (PCN) throughout product life cycle Perform root cause and corrective action on returned fielded products Perform analysis/identify trends impacting reliability across multiple products Improve manufacturability of existing products through continuous improvement strategies, such as improving first pass yield, improving test efficiency, etc. Use documented hardware change management processes to implement product design changes as needed for improved manufacturability Proficiently use troubleshooting and general EE tools (ex. multimeters, oscilloscopes, network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, schematic design and PCB layout programs, etc.) Thoroughly document analysis/findings in an organized manner Effectively communicate information and recommendations with key stakeholders Work efficiently across a multi-disciplinary team including design engineering, quality engineering, reliability engineering, and manufacturing teams to deliver optimized solutions Monitor Aviation Field Quality Concerns (AFQC) return data and determine root cause corrective actions to improve Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) on products May be a Project Engineer for an existing product redesign effort with minor changes Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering or related field AND a minimum of 1 year relevant experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule) Demonstrated ability with electrical engineering tools Demonstrated knowledge of design impacts on manufacturability and reliability Understanding of reliability and process statistical analysis (FMEA, MTBF, first pass yield, Cp/Cpk) Desired Qualifications Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering or related field Previous work or internship experience with circuit design for consumer or aviation products Garmin International is an equal opportunity employer.
