As the Product Support Technician (Boilers), you will provide technical support for all hydronic and steam boiler and burner products sold and supported by Taft Engineering. You will handle equipment installations, factory authorized startups, on-site training, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs. Reporting to the VP Aftermarket Sales & Support, this is a hybrid role based in Kansas or Missouri.
You Will:
Provide accurate field assessments of newly installed equipment to ensure compliance with local codes and manufacturers’ guidelines.
Collaborate with installing contractors (mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and controls) to address questions and concerns before startup.
Perform factory authorized startups on new equipment and submit all required documentation.
Deliver short technical trainings for onsite personnel on newly installed equipment.
Communicate with customers, contractors, and service technicians both on site and via telephone regarding product and service issues.
Troubleshoot and repair service-related customer complaints on equipment sold by Taft.
Work closely with Taft’s inside sales and product support teams to review specifications and construction documents, ensuring proper equipment application.
Complete jobsite walkthroughs, documenting existing equipment, measurements, and drawings to support retrofit opportunities.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of products, techniques, tools, and materials required for proper servicing.
Participate in cross-functional teams for new product initiatives and problem-solving.
Manage relationships with project team members, including engineers, contractors, clients, and end users.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues in diverse settings, adapting to each unique environment.
You Have:
3+ years of field experience in the heating and domestic water heating industry.
Knowledge of electrical/electronic systems, communications, controls, and hardware (preferred).
Understanding of installation, operation, and maintenance requirements for steam and gas-fired equipment (preferred).
Familiarity with boiler/burner-related standards.
Ability to read and work from electrical schematics, drawings, plans, or specifications.
Hands-on skills in troubleshooting, testing, and repairing commercial HVAC systems (including boilers, burners, motors, automation/controls systems, and associated electrical systems).
A self-starter mindset with strong ownership of work.
A valid Driver’s License; company vehicle provided.
The expected hourly range for this position is $41 - $48 per hour. Actual compensation will be dependent upon individual skills, experience, qualifications, and applicable laws.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, talk, and/or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, sit, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include: close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
Work in both office and manufacturing environment. May occasionally be required to perform job duties outside the typical office setting.
