Product Test and Development Engineer

 

Job Summary

This role offers you the opportunity to join a world-class development team in the rapid growth market of IoT devices and smart home technology. As an Electronics Engineer, you will be involved with new residential electronic lock development and improving existing products.  As we continue to drive innovation in the Smart Home ecosystem, you will be an integral part of the development team that brings new concepts and technologies directly to customers. In this position, you will be responsible for understanding the design, developing test plans, supporting test campaigns, and creating detailed reports. You will emphasize both the advanced technical testing and lab management aspects, as well as the support provided to the design engineers, production, and product development teams. In addition to testing and troubleshooting, this role also includes equipment management and act as a technician for reworks and basic cable/harness assemblies.

 

The position plays a key role in ensuring that products meet both internal and external quality standards, and you will be working closely with cross functional product development teams throughout the process.

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

(20%) Develop and execute validation and system test plans to ensure the devices under test meet design requirements and related performance standards (15%) Support both production and qualification test campaigns, coordinating with design and manufacturing teams (10%) Understanding the design at a system level, create test reports per internal and BHMA standards (10%) Assist in preparing test environments, setting up equipment, and conducting tests on the DUT (10%) Support Design Engineers with various tests include troubleshooting down to the component level (10%) Managing lab and equipment resources by maintaining an operating test equipment and ensuring proper calibration and readiness for tests (10%) Work with PCBA and finished goods manufacturers to ensure design is ready for production, build prototypes and support cross functional teams. (10%) Perform through-hole and surface mount soldering and PCBA reworks as needed for test setup and product improvements (5%) Assemble cables, wiring harnesses, and other electronic assemblies and components

 

Additional Duties and Responsibilities

Manage and prioritize support requests escalated to the Hardware Team Assist with escalated customer issues by supporting field technicians and collaborating with SWQA team on technical matters Participate in Test Standard reviews Weight might be carried, up to 20lbs Potential Hybrid Working model; based on need may require 5 days onsite Other duties as required by supervisor.

 

Education and Experience Profile

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical / Electronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology (EET) or a related field 3+ years of related experience required

 

Required Skills

Experience with electronic test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators, etc. Skilled in soldering, building, reworking the PCBA and related subassemblies, harness assemblies Inspection of solder joints to ensure quality standards are met Ability to read and interpret schematic diagrams, PCB layouts, and engineering drawings to assist troubleshooting and rework Excellent communication skills to work cross-functionally with design, SWQA, and other lab managers Ability to maintain lab facilities, manage calibration schedules, and ensure testing equipment is in optimal condition

 

Additional Desired Skills

Familiarity with regulatory and industry standards for electronics and experience with hardware certification processes (environmental tests, ESD, etc.)

Work Environment:

Working conditions are normal for an office environment.

 

Pay Range: $71,403-$104,725.

 

This “base salary range” is a reasonable estimate for this position at the time of posting. Pay within each range is based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to primary work-related knowledge, skills, experience, business requirements and geographic location. ASSA ABLOY conducts regular review of compensation ranges and therefore reserves the right to alter this range at any given time.
