Production Assistant

Quanex is looking for a Production Assistant to join our team located in Ankeny IA.

The Production Assistant will play a key role overseeing and supporting production and scheduling process. This position will be responsible for maintaining reports for key metrics, documenting processes, and subsequent creation of a production schedule to support the needs of the manufacturing department.

What Success Looks Like:

Works within ERP system and has good working knowledge of computers in general. (Excel, Word, Microsoft office/email) Prints bill of lading and organizes paperwork for drivers. Support cycle count program and work to reduce variances. Perform inventory adjustments and has a strong understanding of inventory quantities. Research and resolve problems with finished goods reporting issues. Assist Shipping in allocation of stock, assigning material to orders, etc. Responsible for maintaining compliance with all internal procedures related to planning. Ensure FG is available to meet customer order requirements and proactively communicates and resolves anticipated or actual backorders. Accurate presentation of overall business volume to support production planning. Effective resolution and communication of stock allocation/variance issues. Greets visitors and customers and provides excellent customer service. Answers phones and directs calls to appropriate teammate. Prepares security badges and PPE for visitors. Coordinates employee events as needed. Accurately, thoroughly, and legibly completes all documentation related to this position, i.e., production reports, accurate time keeping, etc. Responsible for organizing backorders Prints and organizes daily and missing labels, orders and packing slips, separating labels by department and customer Inventories office supplies and works with vendors to ensure the regular supply of office materials, including PPE Responsible for employee vending/cafeteria Compile and maintain records of office business transactions and company records, including safety records Enters cycle counts into ERP system Assists other areas with production, inspection, repair or other duties as assigned/as needed. Cooperates with and supports co-workers and gets involved as a team player.

Your Credentials:

High school education or equivalent. Prior experience is not strictly required, but preferred. Forklift background required. Must be able to lift, bend and kneel frequently. Reliability and responsibility, strong work history. Working knowledge of computer systems including Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook. Strong organizational skills, with emphasis on detail. Proven ability to perform detailed work requiring high levels of concentration.

The hourly wage starts at $18.00/hr.
