The Production Chemist is responsible for completing tasks and assignments in accordance with established processes and methodologies. This role involves synthesizing peptides and intermediates, as well as performing processing from the initial stage through purification and lyophilization to obtain the final product.
ResponsibilitiesCheck reactor system for proper operation in accordance with SOP and/or operation manual.Measure and mix ingredients according to the Batch Production Record (BPR) under general supervision.Monitor chemical reactions (color and completeness) and respond with appropriate actions to ensure proper processing under the direction of supervision and/or Production Chemist personnel.Perform intermediate chemical processing steps using established safety and process procedures under general supervision.Prepare sample solutions and buffers for purification.Purify peptides using preparative HPLC’s under general supervision.Conduct lyophilization process according to established guidelines.Perform drying processes in accordance with established procedures.Report any issues with equipment used in processing to supervision and/or Production Chemist personnel.Perform in-process checking of the fractions using analytical HPLC and report results to supervision and/or Production Chemist personnel.Maintain high safety, housekeeping, and cleanliness standards.Perform any and all additional duties as required for this position.Essential Skills1-5 years of industry experience with HPLC.Knowledge of chemistry and chemical reactions.Safe handling of caustic and/or toxic chemicals.Proper operation of applicable machinery and equipment (troubleshooting referred to Production Chemist or supervisory personnel).Working knowledge and understanding of basic math.Proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).Additional Skills & QualificationsBachelor's degree in Chemistry or other Chemistry-related disciplines.
