Job Description

  

Job Summary:

The Production Controller coordinates and controls production activities to ensure timely and efficient manufacturing operations. This role plays a crucial part in maintaining production flow by managing shop orders, monitoring inventory levels, and identifying or resolving schedule impact that may affect delivery timelines or production output. 
 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Communication & Coordination

Serve as a liaison between production, planning, purchasing, and quality to ensure seamless execution of production plans.

Communicate status updates, delays, and resolutions to relevant stakeholders. Take part in daily production meetings and provide updates on shop order status and inventory health.

Schedule Management

Collaborate with planning, production, and procurement teams to align production activities with schedule requirements.

Assess and respond to deviations in production timelines, including labor shortages, equipment issues, or material delays.

Recommend and implement recovery plans to minimize schedule impact.

Shop Order Management

Release shop orders consistent with the master production schedule.

Maintain shop order data, including dates, shop order splits, change order details, routing step updates, stop work order details, etc.

Monitor shop order progress through completion, communicate risks and impact on production schedule.

Inventory Monitoring

Coordinate with planning and procurement to ensure material availability for planned and released orders.

Monitor raw materials, work in-progress (WIP), and finished goods inventory to prevent shortages or excess.

Coordinate with the stock room team to reconcile discrepancies and maintain inventory accuracy.

Support cycle counting and inventory audits as needed.

Education and/or Experience                                                             

High School diploma or GED equivalent is required. Associates degree in related field preferred. Minimum of 4-6 years of experience in a similar position required.

Other Essential Duties 

Must have intermediate knowledge of computer applications including Excel, Word, Outlook, MRP Systems. Microsoft AX is highly preferred.   

Basic Knowledge of ISO and/or AS9100  

Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing/6 Sigma/Kaizen
