Production Controls Engineer

Hino Motors Manufacturing is an OEM that assembles trucks in West Virginia, automotive components in Arkansas, and operates a parts distribution center in California. 

We are currently seeking a Production Controls Engineer located in Mineral Wells/Williamstown, WV reporting directly to the AM, Production Services, Engineering. The individual designs, implements and maintains processes that increase productivity, by editing and supporting existing PLC and HMI applications. Assist in implementation of predictive maintenance plans. Identify and implement error proofing (Pokayoke) requirements throughout the production process. Programming and troubleshooting programmable logic controllers, robotics and other electronic equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

Design, implement and maintain processes that increase productivityEdit and support existing PLC and HMI applicationsAssist in implementation of predictive maintenance plansIdentify and implement error proofing (Pokayoke) requirements throughout the production processKaizen – analyze plant processes and continuously improve safety, quality and productivityProgramming and troubleshooting programmable logic controllers, robotics and other electronic equipmentApply knowledge of electronic and instrumentation principles to troubleshoot equipment malfunctionsSupport downtime events that impact productionInterface with other departments on equipment modifications and designInterpret and implement specifications

Education & Experience Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experienceMinimum of three years of experience in an engineering role in a manufacturing environment, automotive experience is preferred. 3+ Years of controls experience

Required Skills:

PLC, robotics, and HMI programming – Mitsubishi, Allen Bradley, Toyopuc, and Kawasaki Project management experience or abilityLean Manufacturing and TPS knowledgeExtensive knowledge of problem-solving methodologies and experience with root cause analysisAbility to manage multiple priorities and respond appropriately to work pressuresMature and tactful communicator in both written and verbal contextsStrong computer skills in Microsoft Office applicationsAbility to interpret blueprints, engineering drawings and learn new systems 2D AutoCAD or equivalent experience preferred

Travel Requirements: 10-15% domestic and international travel to other plants, including Japan.
