Production Engineer Marotta Controls, Inc., is an industry leader in the design and manufacture of motion and flow control systems and components for the defense, government services, space, and commercial aerospace markets. We are seeking an experienced, innovative production engineer to join our growing team. In this position, you will contribute to the success of our business by designing fixtures and optimizing production processes in our aerospace level manufacturing facility. Hands-on engineering aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively are essential skills for this role. Minimum Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or related field) Knowledge in the design and implementation of assembly of precision devices Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to maintain positive relationships with co-workers Computer skills: Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Power Point, CAD software, and ERP systems Key Duties and Responsibilities: Design, implement, and validate the performance of assembly tooling and fixtures to support the building and testing of aerospace electronics, and electromechanical actuators Assembly Procedure and other document creation and modification Improve the efficiency of production processes without compromising quality Manage the startup of new production cells Review and build existing customer designed product and evaluate effectiveness of the design for manufacturing and recommend improvements Plan, manage, and oversee all production tasks associated with a program Alert management to technical and schedule problems in a timely manner Identify materials and equipment needed and generate purchase requisitions and/or capital expenditure requests to obtain them Ensure design for manufacturing through review and approval of product drawings Communicate and collaborate with all levels of personnel in other departments, subcontractors, suppliers, and other outside agents Provide production engineering support for customer audits, failure investigations, root cause analyses, and other activities Generate and manage the timely release of engineering drawings, bills of material, and other documents to support customer requirements Train production engineers and technicians Provide technical expertise to technical writers, design engineers, and other personnel Perform gauge R&Rs and PFMEAs Follow and adhere to AS9100, ISO 9000, internal, and customers’ quality requirements. Additional Duties / Responsibilities: Implement and adhere to all safety, quality, housekeeping and company policies/procedures to ensure compliance to regulatory and internal system requirements. Bring initiatives and activities to closure in a timely manner through effective interaction with individuals, both internal and external. Facilitate training, as needed, to maintain a cross-trained workforce and to support operational goals and objectives. Contribute to a positive and cooperative work environment through effective communication at all levels internal and external to the organization. Actively participate in team meetings, improvement initiatives, and other programs to provide constructive recommendations and initiate actions to support company initiatives/goals. Consistently demonstrate commitment to company values. Keep management informed in a timely manner of area activities and of any significant problems. Assume responsibility for related duties as required or assigned. Ensure that work area and work areas of direct reports are clean, secure, and well maintained. Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to conditions typical of a manufacturing/machine shop environment, including, but not limited to, fluids, fumes, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, noise, and vibration. The duties of this job are conducted in both a professional office environment and a manufacturing/machine shop environment. Use of standard office equipment, such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines, as well as appropriate eye, hearing, and foot protection is required as necessary to perform job duties. The temperature and humidity of the work environment may be affected by outside/external temperatures, machining processes, and other factors. This is a full-time position. Some travel (5-10%) may be required for this position. Physical Requirements: Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Vision and color vision must pass job-required vision screening. The employee may be required to lift and/or move items weighing up to 50 pounds. This position is at our Montville, NJ office location. Many of our contracts require proof that you are a U.S. citizen and/or that an export license has been obtained for employees who are citizens of certain countries.
