First Line Supervisor

DuPont's Bayport site is looking for a First Line Supervisor to oversee a staff of production employees. The First Line Supervisor will ensure adherence to established operations and safety policies and procedures. They will maintain standards in the areas of housekeeping, safety, attendance, operational discipline, process safety management, and scheduled and unscheduled maintenance. They will also be responsible for communications up and down the line and for assuring that communications from team members are accurate and complete as well as responsible for responding to personnel, operational, safety, and environmental incidents. Ensure work is completed in accordance with production schedules.

The position works a 12 hour rotating shift and reports to the Operations Manager, with responsibilities for direct supervision, employee safety, morale, product quality, productivity, coaching, learning and mentorship of the assigned work team. The Production Supervisor will support business KPIs and initiatives such as LEAN, cost controls, and daily continuous improvement activities. 


Responsibilities:
•    Lead team to zero EH&S incidents and injuries through support of programs and site policies 
•    Supervises and directs assigned manufacturing shift team(s) and assets (approximately 7- 10 direct reports) 
•    Provides support to their respective Operations Manager in meeting the department goals and objectives. 
•    Participates in Incident Response Leader rotation and support incident reporting across Safety, Quality, and Reliability 
•    Maintain staffing/Attendance:  The Supervisor will be responsible to ensure that attendance expectations are met. 
•    Approve Payroll:  Completes timekeeping requirements for assigned hourly employees on daily/weekly basis with support of site 
•    Time Administration. Approves timecards by designated dates. 
•    Develop and drive KPI performance in support of site and business strategy 
•    Write & deliver recognition, progressive discipline, and performance reviews (in partnership with appropriate leaders) 
•    Schedule equipment and shift personnel according to processes, production schedules and/or business decisions.  Manage material flow throughout the department. 
•    Develop/train/coach/mentor employees using site and DuPont resources.  Willing to explore external options for delivering new and creative concepts to the organization by way of enhancing development opportunities, internal candidate pools, succession planning, etc. 
•    Prepares shift status reports for daily/weekly/monthly meetings. 
•    Advise on short & long-term department requirements, goals, and needs including headcount and productivity goals. 
•    Interface, coordinate, and network with other departments and business units/functions. 
•    Ensure training compliance, especially for the shift employees who are moving across departments. 
•    Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures. 
•    Regularly attend and participate in shift safety meetings. 
•    Attend relevant meetings and present on assigned/appropriate topics. 
•    Maintains employees’ schedules, breaks, overtime, vacation, and other administrative requests. 
•    Walks, monitors, manufacturing floor and engages with personnel to ensure safety, housekeeping, quality, and productivity   standards are maintained. 
•    Promotes teamwork and counsel’s appropriate issues.  Understands when to escalate. 
•    Responsible to appropriately communicate both up and down the organization as needed. 

Qualifications:
•    2+ years of experience in an industrial, manufacturing, military, or similar setting 
•    People leadership preferred 
•    Process Safety Management (High Hazard Process) experience preferred
•    Confident with current computer applications and skills.
•    High School Diploma or Equivalent 
•    Associate or Bachelor Degree preferred
