About the Role The Production Hi-lo Driver is responsible for ensuring safe, efficient material flow within the plant by keeping operations stocked with materials and supplies, and transferring finished goods to the proper staging locations. All aspects & functions involved in Materials Operations. Your Responsibilities Safely operate a Hi-lo truck for 10-hour shifts, transporting materials into, out of, and around work areas containing high volumes of pedestrian Tier 1 automotive manufacturing line operators, engineers, materials handlers, team leads, supervisors, quality auditors and maintenance employees. Keep work centers supplied with containers, parts, material and/or components; and the removal of containers as they are filled with work in process material, finished goods and/or scrap.  The first priority always being safety, the 2nd priority of all Hi-lo drivers is to support production and eliminate unnecessary downtime. Transfer any/all material correctly by properly scanning materials into/out of correct MRP locations within the plant, generating materials kits and kit labels, applying labels and transferring said full kits correctly. Adhere to all S.W.I. and J.E.S. instructions on safe transportation of material by correctly verifying proper part number, quantity and quality labeling to the material being moved.  Following procedures for non-conforming materials correctly including reporting, labeling and quarantine transfer policy. All non-conforming products entering the hold area are to be identified with a part number, quantity and defect description.  It is the responsibility of the Hi-lo driver to verify this information prior to moving material into the hold area.   Abiding by the Magna training and OSHA rules of safe Hi-lo operation, completing the daily Hi-lo checklist for the maintenance department.  The Hi-lo driver is responsible to notify the maintenance department and their supervisor if the Hi-lo is not operating correctly. It is the responsibility of the Hi-lo driver to follow correct scrap container procedures, including assembling new empty gaylords, swapping them with full scrap containers and transporting said full containers to the correct area for weighing and recording before loading onto scrap trailer. Inbound returnable dunnage is to be inspected for damage and all tags/labels removed prior to transfer to the lines.  Ensure that company policies and procedures are adhered to including IATF16949, ISO14001 (EMS), and Employee Handbook. Follows MIOSHA and MPT Shelby Townships safety regulations and policies, including wearing required P.P.E. (Personal Protective Equipment).  Reports unsafe conditions to Supervisor/Leader. Support and participate in division and department improvement initiatives through Continuous Improvement Suggestion Program, and sharing of knowledge, ideas, and/or best practices with co-workers. Responsible to maintain professional and cooperative communication with all other employees. Who we are looking for Language Skills:  Ability to read and comprehend instructions in English and correspondence such as safety rules and operating instructions.  Ability to document forms as required by position.  Ability to understand, speak and write English required. Mathematical Skills:  Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent. Computer Skills:  To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of AS400 and ability to use bar code labeling system. Reasoning Skills:  Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Communication Skills:  Ability to use active listening.  Ability to communicate respectfully. Your preferred qualifications Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Hi-lo driver in a manufacturing environment. Ability to follow MIOSHA safety requirements.  Knowledge and compliance of safety procedures and policies required. Good communication skills (written and verbal). Demonstrates creativity, initiative, and problem-solving skills. Team oriented work approach and ability to work with others in a team environment. Ability to work overtime as required.
