All internship positions are designed to give college students an opportunity to apply techniques learned in an academic setting while obtaining new skills. This is a paid internship offering full-time hours during the summer months. All interns are required to conclude the program by giving a formal presentation on their work. Please note that no relocation assistance or sponsorship is provided for the internship program at this time. 

This is a full time paid internship. $20/hr based out of our San Marcos, CA facility.

Position Summary: 

As a member of the Production department, you will assist in performing kitting, liquid/powder filling and labeling functions to bring reagents, calibrators, controls, calibration verifiers and proficiency testing to facilities around the world. This role will help provide researchers, clinicians, and labs with the tools they need to help prevent disease worldwide. In this role, more specifically, the following job skills will be developed: 

Inventory management 

Autoclaving 

Assembly lines 

Gowning and aseptic technique 

Metric tracking 

Experience with pumps, balances, flow hoods, sealers, cleanrooms and automated filling and labeling machines  

Soft skills such as communication, teamwork and workplace dynamics  

Assist in the Following Key Responsibilities: 

Setup and running of automated liquid filling, labeling, and packaging equipment. 

Setup and running of manual liquid and powder portable filling equipment. 

Daily filling, labeling, kitting duties according to the production schedule. 

General organization of filling, labeling, and packaging tasks. 

Maintaining supplies for the CER, and packaging areas. 

Maintaining and cleaning Controlled Environment Rooms, dry rooms, and filling equipment. 

Performing other tasks and duties as directed by management and supervisory personnel. 

Lifting, moving, and operating heavy machinery. 

 Program Requirements: 

Must be a currently enrolled student pursuing a Bachelor's degree in a field relevant to the internship 

Must have completed (at minimum) the sophomore year of college 

Must be able to work full-time during the duration of the internship program 

Experience Qualifications: 

Follow departmental policies, procedures and objectives, and safety standards. 

Must have good English communication skills to understand and follow verbal and written instructions. Must have basic math skills. 

Must be computer literate. 

Ability to work well as part of a team. 

Ability to meet packaging and filling requirements on schedule. 

An orientation to detail and accuracy. 

Excellent organizational skills. Must be able to handle multiple tasks. 

Must be adaptable to quickly changing processes or environments. 

Ability to setup, troubleshoot and understand basics of department machinery.
