POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for general production activities throughout different seasons during the year. This will include but is not limited to field activities such as planting and detasseling, receiving corn seed, conditioning/treating corn seed, warehousing/shipping, and equipment maintenance. Critical to this position is the ability to lead/train/supervise seasonal workers, agency workers, and full-time employees while performing production activities. This position will work in partnership with the location team to ensure production and safety goals are accomplished.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Assist and lead safety programs Assist and lead the training of seasonal workers, agency workers, and full-time employees Assist in field operations and scouting Oversee the maintenance and troubleshooting of plant equipment Coordinate, lead, and monitor operations for a single shift Delegate and assign labor to address short-term labor shortages on the shift Operate and calibrate seed conditioning and treating equipment Manage a load picking and/or shipping crew Warehouse finished product and supplies, including checking for accuracy Lead maintenance and troubleshooting of plant equipment Facilitate, communicate, and maintain relationships with outside vendors, contractors, and seed growers Complete all paperwork and reports in a timely and accurate manner Cross train on all plant operations and multiple office duties Lead a team in the preparation of boxes for packaging and repairs Perform duties assigned to meet company quality standards including maintenance, housekeeping, and safety Maintain the highest level of confidentiality, customer service, and professionalism Responsible for projecting a positive image of AgReliant Genetics and acting in accordance with the Company’s Core Values Other duties as assigned
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
High School diploma or equivalent required. An Associate degree in Agriculture or a related field preferred Agriculture field experience preferred or a minimum of 3 years of seed production experience
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Ability to work effectively as part of a team as well as individually Strong verbal and written communication skills Excellent organizational and record-keeping skills Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines Strong attention to detail Ability to lead/train/supervise seasonal and full-time employees while performing production activities Ability to obtain a Certified Pesticide Applicator License and Commercial Driver’s License as needed Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and common PC-based software
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Must be able to lift up to 65 pounds Ability to work required hours and shifts Must have a valid driver’s license and meet MVR Requirements 25% of work will be outdoors Ability to work indoors and outdoors in hot, cold, wet, and dry conditions Ability to walk seed fields, up to 5 miles/day
