Summary:
The Production Lead is responsible for ensuring that safety protocols are being followed, identifying and removing safety hazards, as well as ensuring the flow of product through the shop to meet customer demands. The Production Lead is responsible for assisting in scheduling, job assignments, process improvement, and supervision (excluding disciplinary procedures).
Responsibilities:
Participate in all plant safety initiatives, report potentially unsafe conditions, and abide by corporate and local policies. Actively engage in lean manufacturing principles and techniques. This includes, but is not limited to, actively participating in kaizen events, 5S activities, and continuously seeking improvement in the work area. Work with the Production Supervisor and other Lead People to manage and prioritize staffing assignments to ensure customer demand and the production schedule are met. Execute and coordinate employee training to ensure that procedures are followed and meet all quality requirements. Report problems or concerns with quality, processes, equipment, material, and labor to the Manufacturing Supervisor. Provide job status information daily to Manufacturing Supervisor to prepare for 9:00 a.m. production meeting Works from drawings, sketches and specifications in completing various machining operations. Performs machine set ups to obtain close tolerances, fitting and alignment of machined parts. Update and monitor Production Status boards Attend and contribute to the Tier board meetings Work collaboratively with other departments – Safety, Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, etc – to resolve issues.

8+ years of manufacturing experience Strives to continuously build knowledge and skills; shares expertise with others. Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or equivalent. 8+ years of shop experience as a machinist. Technical training in shop math, blueprint reading, and GDT is preferred to perform the job.
Mental/Visual/Physical Effort:
Walks, stands, reaches, and bends frequently. Periodic lifting of moderate to heavy items may be required. Possesses good hand/eye coordination.
Physical Hazards:
Minimal exposure to severe accidents. Normal operations require eye protection. Additional safety equipment may be required.
Material Hazards:
Illness or injury from materials present in normal working environment is unlikely.
Working Conditions:
Exposure to normal machine shop environment with periodic noise. Limited disagreeable factors present.
