Job Summary:As an Entry-Level Production Machinist, you will operate manual lathes, mills, and other machinery to produce high-precision parts and components for a variety of industries. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop a career in machining and manufacturing. The purpose of the role is to ensure effective use of machinery to manufacture components and assemblies.
Key Responsibilities:Operate manual lathes, mills, and other production equipment to fabricate parts according to technical drawings and specifications.Set up machines, load materials, and adjust settings for optimal performance.Take measurements and complete calculations required for sizing of components. Inspect finished parts using basic measuring tools (Vernier’s, calipers, micrometers, height gauges) to ensure they meet required tolerances and quality standards.Work with precision to fine tolerancesDetermine and program manual machines for size and correct speeds and feeds (lathes, grinders, etc.)Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work environment.Assist in troubleshooting and resolving minor machine malfunctions.Perform routine maintenance tasks to ensure machines are functioning properly.Collaborate with team members and supervisors to improve efficiency and production processes.Document production activities and maintain accurate records of approved and defective units or final products.Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions to ensure consistent and safe production.
Qualifications:High school diploma or equivalent (technical or vocational education a plus).Basic understanding of machining principles (e.g., understanding blueprints, tolerances).Mechanical aptitude and interest in learning about machine operation and maintenance.Ability to use basic measuring tools (calipers, micrometers).Willingness to work in a team environment.Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions precisely. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for long periods.Previous manufacturing or machining experience (internships, apprenticeships, or related coursework) is a plus but not required.Good eye for detailProactive mindset regarding efficiency, quality and safety.
