Production Manager

Job Description:

Hobart Food Machines is part of the ITW Food Equipment Group. We are seeking a Production Manager to provide leadership and support to our Hillsboro, OH assembly plant to manufacture a product that satisfies our cost, quality, and service requirements. 

Position Summary

Reporting directly to the Operations Director, the Production Manager will provide guidance and support to the production leadership team and coordinate operations to ensure that production targets and customer expectations are met.

This is an entry level operations management role with opportunities to grow your career within ITW. There will be opportunities to develop your operations and management skills. This role will have multiple functions reporting to them.(Supervisor/Manufacturing Engineering) 

Key Responsibilities

Manages day to day operations of multiple production lines.The Production Manager will be responsible for continues improvement and driving down conversion costs.The Manager will lead, motivate and develop employees to achieve outstanding results according to set targets through enhancing teamwork, effective communications, actively listening, and driving change. The Manager will also drive accountability and ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and standards.  Responsible for OTD, conversion costs, and quality of assembly.Builds and sustains a culture where people are our most important asset – Team members are highly engaged, clearly understand the Company/Plant Vision, and are valued for their contributions to their work and continuous improvement.Determine requirements for operational labor needs, equipment, and make changes/recommendations as needed for assigned operational linePlans production operations, establishes priorities and sequences for manufacturing products by reviewing daily reports and establishing goalsReviews production and operating reports and resolves operational and manufacturing problems to minimize expenses and prevent operational delays.Proactively communicates and collaborates with cross functional team members to achieve results.Demonstrates the knowledge of core business and manufacturing processes and prioritizes direction based upon business/plant need and strategy.Champions new ideas and encourages team members to try new approaches to solve key operational issues.Identifies and develops future leadership and improves overall bench strength. Consistently makes good people decisions regarding recruitment, promotion, and assessment – possesses the ability to make tough but fair decisions.Resolve employee complaints, conduct investigations and issue coaching or discipline in accordance with company policy.

Must Have

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Manufacturing or related field  

5+ years of relevant experience, including at least 1 year as a supervisor. Experience in food equipment is an asset. 

Demonstrated problem solving and decision-making skills 

Strong written and verbal communication/presentation skills with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. 

Experience with effective conflict resolution, leadership, and interpersonal communication across multiple levels within an organization. 

Strong analytical skills 

Knowledge of Employment Standards, and OSHA

Highly driven self-starter with desire to develop operations and management skills 

Physical Requirements

Office, Lab and Manufacturing environments. 

PPE required: Steel toe shoes and eye protection in manufacturing setting. 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, bend, or stoop and use hands, arms and walk frequently. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
