To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we’re looking to add a Production Manager located in Columbia, SC.
Reporting to the Sr. Director of Operations, the Production Manager guides and coordinates activities of employees engaged in the following areas of a manufacturing department; multi-level assembly, electronic card/system testing and quality assurance to attain production goals consistent with cost, quality, and delivery requirements.
What a typical day looks like:
Manage appropriate staffing and inventory levels.
Oversee the assembly operations to meet corporate KPIs.
Supervise production staff on work methods and quality checkpoints.
Coordinate with other departments and other Flex sites to drive excellence.
Coordinate efforts of operations team by establishing procurement, production and engineering services policies and practices.
Ensure ISO and safety standards are adhered to.
Report to leadership team in weekly operations reviews.
Coach and mentor Operations leadership.
Leverage industry practices and apply to internal systems and processes.
Implement appropriate HR strategies and actions to recruit and retain a qualified and motivated workforce.
The experience we’re looking to add to our team:
Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
7-10 years of manufacturing production and operations experience in SMT technology in a high volume highly automated setting.
Demonstrates detailed expertise in very complex functional/technical area or broad breadth of knowledge in multiple areas; understands the strategic impact of the function across sites.
Demonstrates advanced people and/or process management skills as well as customer (external and internal) relationship skills.
Demonstrates knowledge of multiple functional technologies/processes, industries or functions and understanding of interdependencies of such processes at the site.
Previous experience/best practices implementing and using continuous improvements and lean tools such as: Six Sigma, 5S, Lean Manufacturing, and Transactional Lean to drive improvement.
Previous experience/broad understanding of safety systems and implementation of safety rules and policies.
Strong planning and organizational skills.
Strong interpersonal communication and listening ability.
Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
Office Skills: word processing, spreadsheet (PC), presentation and database software.
Previous experience and strong understanding of budgeting/expense management with basic understanding of financial accounting practices is highly desirable.
