Production Manager

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  

Coordinates and supervises in-house crew, stage labor and other technicians (including those not in the direct employ of the facility) manages all on stage productions including advancing shows, providing event estimates, and producing the events on show day. 

Production Technical

Directly responsible for advancing, facilitation, and executing of production for multiple venues and genres, including arena, theatre, flat floor, sporting events, and corporate and community meetings and conventions. Works directly with live entertainment and corporate productions and tours to advance all technical, A/V production, rigging, facility logistics and hospitality requirements for shows in all MCC venues.Supervises booking of crew for events through local IATSE Union.Manages all in-house operations and production personnel to fulfill technical rider requirements and front of house staffing needs.Oversees all areas of production, rigging, sound/lights, and A/V operations and must be technically savvy in all areas of stage related technical equipment.Responsible for adherence to all safety and OSHA workplace regulations relating to event production performances. Oversees work schedules and payroll for Production labor.Develops, maintains and adheres to departmental budget.Gather accurate event production information as it relates to a/v needs through direct contact with sound and lighting directors and other clients. Assist in preparing client billing. Adheres to ASM Global reporting policies.Work effectively under pressure and/or stringent schedule and produce accurate results.Organizes and prioritizes workload to meet hard deadlines.Oversees and/or manages all Audio/Visual performance related systems of the complex in cooperation with outside vendors.Supervises technical setup, equipment load ins & load outs for all MCC Venues.Coordinates the budgeting, purchasing, and scheduling of stage equipment repair and maintenance.Investigates, analyzes, and resolves technical problems and client concerns.Understand and operate (and be able to train staff concerning the use of) the Facilities systems including, but not limited to, mixing consoles, public address systems, intercom, video equipment, theatrical lighting, and spotlights.Manage preventive maintenance and repairs on all a/v equipment, maintaining service records, and inventories of equipment. Develop and submit lists of necessary repairs and improvements. Operational oversight of Q-Sys systems and Dante Audio Networks, ETC Paradigm control systems and Ceston room integrations systems events.Work directly with event management team to facilitate comprehensive client focused solutions.Provides clear, concise, and timely communication of directives to other departments to assure facility readiness and client success.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly supervises technical personnel, production crew and vendors performing production and technical services at MCC. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with ASM Globals’ policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding; disciplining employees in conjunction with the local IATSE Union and Human Resources; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Experience and/or Education

A Minimum of 3 years' experience with production management in a corporate meeting, entertainment organization club, theater, arena or equivalent. Proficiency in sound, video and/or lighting production required as well as operation of the newest technology.  Experience with rigging preferred.

Availability

This position requires flexibility with work hours, as the Production Manager will need to accommodate the specific timelines of each event. The role may require working long hours, weekends, and evenings, particularly leading up to and during event dates. The successful candidate should be prepared to adjust their schedule to ensure the smooth execution of events, including handling last-minute changes or challenges. Availability to meet the demands of the event calendar is essential for this role.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Experience and expertise in Audio/Visual production.Experience with rigging preferred.Supervisory experience required.Organization of production for a multi venue facility.Effective oral, written communication, interpersonal and presentation skills required.Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with demonstrated ability to prioritize effectively.Excellent math skills and attention to detail.Professional presentation, appearance, and work ethic. Ability to adjust work schedule to coincide with events.  Trade skills a plus, (electrical, rigging, etc.).

Certificate, Licenses, Registrations

Must be licensed and insured to operate a motor vehicle in the State of Minnesota. ESTA Certification a plus.

Computer Skills

Proficient in Microsoft Office and equivalent venue management software. AutoCAD experience preferred along with an advanced understanding of network infrastructure as it relates to Audio-Visual needs.

Must have the ability to communicate effectively during a strenuous schedule. This position may require work inside or outside of the building, and work in adverse conditions as needed by events. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
